University of Cincinnati’s Cronin to be honored for community service

CINCINNATI (January 29, 2013) – The National Association of Collegiate Athletics (NCAA) announced today that it will honor University of Cincinnati men’s basketball coach Mick Cronin for his work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. The on-court ceremony will take place at halftime during the UC vs. University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball game , 1 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena.

Tickets to the game are available at www.gobearcats.com.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized by the NCAA for our program’s work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters,” said Cronin, who has served as head coach of the basketball program for seven seasons. “Our players truly enjoy working with the youth in the various programs.”

The award given annually by the NCAA recognizes head coaches who involve their team in community service projects focusing on youth outreach.

“Coach Cronin and his players have made a tremendous impact on the youth in the our programs,” said Kathy List, CEO of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. “We are thrilled he is being honored by the NCAA.”
