What is Blackboard?Blackboard is an Internet-based course management system. Through Blackboard, students and faculty interact within a distance class. Students use Blackboard to gain access to course materials, assignments and other important items related to their class. Where do I get my UA user name and password?Go to www.uaa.alaska.edu/informationtechnologyservices and click on the Identity & Password link.Where is my Blackboard class located? You can access Blackboard from the UAA homepage and the Distance Education site at www.uaa.alaska.edu/distanceeducation,

or go directly to www.uaa.alaska.edu/classes. Once you are enrolled in a class, you will visit this site often, so it’s a good idea to bookmark it on your computer. Each distance class you’re registered for will show up here on the first day of the semester. Not all classes you are enrolled in will show up on Blackboard, but all distance classes will be available here. How do I make corrections to UAOnline or Blackboard?Go to UAOnline if you need to update a mailing address or other personal information. For name changes, submit a Change Form to the One Stop in the University Center.

PEP - Physical Education ProfessionalOffered through the Community and Technical College

Eugene Short Hall (ESH), Room 125, 786-4083www.uaa.alaska.edu/hper

Many PEP courses are introductory. All courses follow rigorous academic curriculum. Some classes are held outdoors; in that case, students may be required to perform activities in extremely inclement weather, i.e., rain, sleet, snow, wind, or sub-zero temperatures. There is an assumption that a minimum level of physical fitness is needed to succeed in and enjoy many of the activities. Selected courses have significant physical fitness prerequisites or special notes. If you have any questions, please contact the department.

All students enrolling in PEP courses are required to complete an Acknowledgement of Risk, Release of Liability, and Medical Questionnaire form the first day of class. Students who do not attend the first class may be dropped from the course.

MINORS: Sixteen- and 17-year-old students must receive chair approval before they are allowed to enroll in these courses. Students under 16 years of age may not enroll.

Course fees may apply; refer to specific course listing on UAOnline.
