Description Subjects Date Addressee My dear Mr. ________________: I am inclosing herein a copy of my announcement and also a copy of the endorsement given me by my home people for the Governorship of Kentucky. I am earnestly hoping that you are interested in my race and I am writing to you to assure you that if I am nominated and elected I shall use every inch of the energy, intelligence and integrity that I possess to be worthy of your confidence and to give the State a highly efficient administration. I would not give five cents to be Governor of Kentucky unless I could have executive freedom and responsibility and an opportunity to serve the great people of my State. I know it seems mechanical for a candidate to speak in this way, but I hope you will believe my motives and purposes are patriotic. If you are interested in my race I shall greatly appreciate hearing from you, and if you are in a position to distribute some of my announcements I shall value the opportunity of sending them to you. With all good wishes, I am,

Description Subjects Date Addressee My Dear __________________ Your noble good letter is here. I appreciate deeply and thoroughly your sentiment expressed in your letter and I want to assure you now that if I am nominated and elected, I shall use every inch of the energy, intelligence and integrity I possess to be worthy of your confidence and to give the State a highly efficient administration. Almost every individual has a relative or a member of his family living in other sections of the State from that in which he lives at this time, and a letter to these people would be of inestimable value to me. I am sending to you, under separate wrapper, twenty copies of my announcement and twenty copies of my endorsement, which I trust you will place in the hands of interested people. I am hoping you will write as many as ten letters to members of your family who live in sections outside your present location and get them interested in me and inclose a copy of my announcement and endorsement in each letter. I would appreciate the names and addresses of the people to whom you have written and I will write them a personal letter myself and try to get them interested. With a heart full of gratitude for whatever you may do and thanking you for your letter, I am, Fraternally yours, The number of announcements sent varied from 10, 20 and as many as 50.
