Our Mission

To assist studentsin developingas completeand wholepersons

Bethel University is committed to helping stu-dents develop to their highest potential-- intel-lectually, spiritually, socially, and physically -- in a Christian environment.

We at CLINICAL SERVICES support this mis-sion by providing on-campus counseling ser-vices to all Bethel students. Our office is located on the third floor of Campbell Hall.. Students are scheduled for appointments between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

At CLINICAL SERVICES we typically see a variety of counseling concerns that include such issues as depression, anxiety, anger-manage-ment, relationship conflict, grief, substance abuse, and stress management.

Although there is no set number of counseling sessions offered or required, efforts are made, and treatment designed to provide short-term counseling.

On occasion, life has a way of leaving us with more questions than answers. While these experiences are very common, they can be quite disrup-tive and interfere with our day-to-day responsibilities.

Sometimes it can help to speak with a professional counselor -- someone who serves as a sounding board and provides objective guidance, as you take the necessary steps to re-establish emotional stability.

Our staff will work with you to develop specific goals and objectives that enable you to regain balance in your life. Our commitment is to main-tain all confidentiality regarding students and their counseling experience.

Confidentiality is an ethical standard that pro-tects clients/students from disclosure of informa-tion without their consent. We will not discuss issues regarding students with friends, faculty, parents, employers, or anyone else without your permission.

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT

Any Bethel student may schedule an initial “intake” appointment by calling 352-6786 during office hours. On the day of your first appoint-ment, you should arrive a few minutes early to complete a short-answer data form. At that time you will sign a consent which allows our staff your permission to meet with you. Afterwards, you will meet with a counselor, discuss your con-cerns, and determine whether to proceed further with treatment.

At CLINICAL SERVICES, there are no student fees. However, students are expected to keep regularly scheduled appointments on time each week, and respectfully give 24-hour notice of any cancellations necessary.
