Backfiring from the chair:

Ok, now I know for sure the old age has got me, or maybe it was the med’s. I got the dates and venues wrong, we were supposed to go to Ndlovu Lodge and I booked Piatto’s instead. Eve, my apologies for this oversight, I know you were looking forward to the Ndlovu run. So, to make things right I am offering to pay for your brekkies next Sunday and hope to see you there. Ndlovu Lodge it will be!

I was so upset that I could not make the run to Piatto’s. I hate missing a ride and this weekend I missed two rides, Nigel’s lunch run to Elisras (800km’s) and the Sunday ride. Nigel, when next you plan a lunch run, I’m in!

Talking about long runs, The Eagle Warriors are doing a 1000km Kisboude trip on Saturday, 1 June. All are welcome. The route will start in Midrand and go through areas such as: Witbank, Middleburg, Hendrina, Carolina, Badplaas, Barberton, Nelspruit, Sabie, Hazeyview, Graskop, Blyde River, Origstad, Lydenburg, Dullstroom, Belfast and back via Middleburg and Witbank to Midrand. All in a day. The entry fee is R80 and includes your badge. Anybody?

The June issue of Bike SA has a nice spread on the Ulysses National Rally, some of us even managed to get our mugs in the photees. As promised there are more photos of the National Rally in this issue, provided by our photographer, Peter Aylott.

Captains Log: Sunday 26th May 2013

We had a surprising good turnout of 20 riders yesterday. Wells was clearly not well and returned home to bed and Eve opted not to attempt the longish ride via Midvaal to the Piatto restaurant in Alberton. The weather was crisp and sunny, so we knew we would not freeze on the ride.

I seem to have perhaps omitted someone so my apology if this is the case. Grant took up the lead and with Mike C sweeping, we set off along Snake road towards Heidelberg. I rode behind Grant as I was sure I would have to stop around the corner from the N3 Bridge for a “water the tree” event. Sure enough as we stopped on the bridge to regroup I blitzed to the clump of trees around the corner only to find that everyone was passing me.

Apparently there was no stop-break this morning. Mike C also stopped to wait for me and although we sent it from there, the main group had to wait for us at the Midvaal turn off. My apology for the delay caused.

Anyway we stayed together as a group eventually reaching the R59 from Vereeniging and proceeded on to Alberton and the Piatto restaurant. Hot tea and coffee all round and we eventually got our breakfasts 40 minutes later. As usual the food was already cold but after waiting this long, I just ate it cold. Not sure if mine was the only chilled breakfast.

Dale and I took the N12 highway back through Bedford View amongst zillions of erratic cage drivers all trying to cut us off and arrived home in one piece. A nice ride with good people this morning.

THE BEST DRUNK STORY OF THE MONTH

A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar and orders a drink. Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table. He gets up,

staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest, biker in the face and says:

'I went by your grandma's house today and I saw her in the hallway buck-naked. Man, she is one fine looking woman!'

The biker looks at him and doesn't say a word. His buddies are confused, because he is one bad biker and would fight at the drop of

a hat. The drunk leans on the table again and says:

'I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!'

The biker's buddies are starting to get really mad

but the biker still says nothing. The drunk leans on the table one more time and says,

'I'll tell you something else, boy, your grandma liked it!'

At this point the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the shoulders

looks him square in the eyes and says....................

'Grandpa;.......... Go home!
