SCENE 1:

The Bitter family are listening to news about the incoming typhoon named Forever. The broadcasters are warning the people on its status and also what to do and what not to do, before, during, and after the typhoon.

N1 (Robbie): Good Afternoon, Philippines!

N2 (Ljae): Good Afternoon, World!

N1: News is out that a typhoon would visit our country. It is not just a typhoon but a very strong one. We advise that youd follow our safety pre-cautions we are about to share with you. But first, we would inform us about typhoons.

N2: thank you Robbie. I am here to discuss what a typhoon is. A typhoon is a type of large storm system having a circular or spiral system of violent winds, typically hundreds of kilometers or miles in diameter. The winds spiral around a region of low atmospheric pressure. "Typhoon" is the name of these storms that occur in the Western Pacific. "Hurricane" is the name given to these storms in the Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Pacific. In the Indian Ocean, they are called "Tropical Cyclones". For stronger typhoons, a characteristic structure called the "eye" forms when the maximum wind speeds exceed about 85 miles per hour, or 140 kilometers per hour. The eye is a region of clear air with no clouds, and is a few tens of kilometers in diameter. The energy that powers typhoons comes from the evaporation of warm ocean water. The water vapor rises to the top of the typhoon along the sides of the eye, and then condenses into clouds. Warmer ocean water produces more powerful typhoons, which can grow into "super typhoons".

(all the students are making noise )

A: Guys! Listen to the news! It says that there is an incoming typhoon, here in the Philippines!

C: Yeah! Lets listen so that we could prepare for it.

I: Or rather, how can we survive it?

N1: Within the northwestern Pacific there are no official typhoon seasons as tropical cyclones form throughout the year. Like any tropical cyclone, there are six main requirements for typhoon formation and development: sufficiently warm sea surface temperatures, atmospheric instability, high humidity in the lower to middle levels of the troposphere, enough Coriolis force to develop a low pressure center, a pre-existing low level focus or disturbance, and low vertical wind shear. Now! For the typhoons status, here is Miss Ljae.

N2: thank you, Robbie. Now for the status: the typhoon moves 315 km/hr., travelling northeast of the Philippines. Here are some pre-cautions occurring the typhoon.

N1: what should we really do before, during and after the typhoon? What are the things that we need to prepare? And what should we do in case of unexpected events that may occur?

N2: Before Typhoon: Keep yourself updated. With the various media platforms, it is next to impossible to not be updated of the supposed typhoons movement. Store ample amount of ready-to-eat foods and water. Make sure that the foods and water that you will store is adequate enough for you and your family and will last for few days. Ready-to-eat foods such as canned/packed foods are especially helpful when cooking is no longer feasible. If you are advised to evacuate, do so. These people who will inform you of the need for evacuation are more knowledgeable than anyone else. So dont be hard-headed, at least not during this time of distress. Always have your emergency kits with you. Your emergency kit may include first-aid supplies, candles, flashlights, life vests and battery-operated radio.

J: I should gather the supplies that we are going to need, like flashlights, whistles and safety gauge which we are going to use when we evacuate.

K: I would be the one to prepare the radio, gadgets, batteries, charger and other devices that we could use to be updated regarding the typhoon.

E: I would gather and prepare the canned goods, water, and the instant noodles and cantons that we may eat.

C: I would prepare our clothes.

I: I should make sure that all of the certificates and important files are safe.

A: and I would be the one to navigate where we should stay for the mean being. I would also be the one to drive. Lets watch the news for more info.

N1: During Typhoon: If no advice to evacuate was announced, then better stay inside your house. Keep yourself calm and postpone any scheduled travels. Keep on monitoring the typhoons movement through your television, radio or the internet. If you see signs of water rising, better turn off the main sources of electricity. Do keep your electric-powered items stored in higher areas and refrain from using them during flood. Do not wade along flooded areas to keep yourself from contacting water-borne diseases. If it is inevitable, wear protective gears such as raincoats and boots to protect yourself. If you are told to evacuate, calmly comply.

N2: After the Typhoon: Monitor and update yourself with the progress of the typhoon through radio, television or the internet (should this be accessible). Watch out for live wires or any electrical outlet that may be submerged in water. If you dont have the sufficient knowledge on electrical wirings, have a knowledgeable person inspect these wires as well as your appliances before you actually use them again. Clean up. Dispose things that may be a ground for mosquitoes to breed. Such stuffs may include tires, cans or pots.

(Loud Sirens of the Ambulance)Brgy. Capt.: Everybody! Leave Now!

(Everybody would panic )

E: Dont Evacuate anymore. Lets just stay here and Guard or protect our houses!

A: Yeah! I agree with Erwin! Lets just stay here!(The Villafuente Family didnt evacuate while the Villareal Family Evacuated)

(The typhoon would occur)

(The Villafuente family Died because they did not evacuate while the Villareal Family survived, they are now in the evacuation Center)

SCENE 2:The Villareal family evacuated, and they are listening to the radio for some updates.

C: quick! Let us hear the news!

I: Ill get the radio. (turn on the radio)

N1: Good evening everyone. We are here for the updates about the typhoon.

C: I dont know. Let us hear the news for more updates.

( the radio stopped working because of the dead battery)

J: Aw men! The battery is dead!

I: do you have extra batteries?

K: I think there is some in the back. Wait! Let me get it. (goes to the back and returns with the batteries)

C: quick! Turn it on again.

N1: it is not yet advised to return to your home. We need,

Typhoons are really destructive; it causes a lot of calamities such as flood, soil erosion, and landslide. But we could minimize the damage by doing simple things that we learn. For instance We should plant trees so that we could minimize the flood, soil erosion and landslide. Death, it is also one of the many effects typhoon could give, we couldnt prevent it but like what we had said we could minimize it, also with the help each and every one of us and also with the help of God.
