The Department recently received complains about a local chain store sold unsafe folding chairs. The Customs Department sent the relevant samples for safety tests according to the British standards for strength, durability and safety of domestic seating. Both folding chairs test results are failed to meet the safety requirements, including their metal legs were too easy to break that could cause serious harm to the end-user. Customers are increasingly demanding high-value furniture, not only the primary concerns on appearance and price, but also the considerations on product quality and material reliabilities of the brand. In order to enhance your brand perceptions, company sales performance and customer’s confidence on product quality, furniture provider should send its products to third party testing laboratory for safety tests in comply with applicable safety requirements.
