It is easy to lose FAITH when we feel fear or when we are troubled with problems in life. In times of trouble or disap-pointment, we may feel like the faith we once had has slipped away. Then, we may begin to feel anger toward God. I know I have in the past.

Simon Peter, also, had his ups and downs with God. On the night he would deny the Lord, Jesus said to him, “Si-

mon, Satan has asked to have you, to sift you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you that your faith should not com-pletely fail. So when you have asked forgiveness and turned to me again, strengthen and build up your faith.” (Luke 22:31-32)

See, Jesus knew Peter would be attacked and “sifted” but he was also confident that Peter would, then, return to God. Wheat is sifted by throwing it repeatedly

into the air and catching it. The kernels are separated from the chaff as the lighter wheat chaff is carried away by the wind. All that remains is the solid wheat ker-nels, which is good.

And so, we should not be sur-prised that we face times when our faith seems to disappear. We may feel like we are being ripped open and our faith is being blown away. But, in time, we will find the core of our faith again. And when

we do, we will be stronger for the experience
