Maybe we need to ask, “How can I trust in God’s love when it feels like all I have ever known is love that disappoints?” Well, here is the difference. Jesus is the only one who entered our life through

the “one way” door of death. “God showed how much he loved us by send-ing his only Son into this wicked world to bring to us eternal life through his death. In this act, we see what real love is. It is not our love for God but his love for us when God sent his Son to satisfy God’s anger against our sins.” (John 4: 9-10).

The psalmist wrote, “For God knows we are but dust and that our days are few and brief. But the loving kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting to those who reverence him.” (Psalm 103: 14-18).

God’s love is unconditional and

always waiting for us. Turning our life over to God involves opening the door to our heart to God’s love. It meets us at our deepest need and eases our most powerful insecurities.

I recently updated my second pair of hearing aids to Jennifer. I can hear so much better in the car in the volume on the television has

Background noise can include traffic noise, music, reverberation, people laugh-ing, several people talking at once, or any other sound that interferes with your abil-ity to hear what you want to hear. Unfortunately, no hear-ing aid has been designed that will filter out ALL back-ground noise. In fact, you need to hear some back-ground noise in order to understand some of the parts of speech (endings of words and other consonant sounds). There have been

tremendous advances in hearing aid technology that make noisy environments more comfortable and im-prove speech understand-ing.

Today’s hearing aids have sophisticated noise reduc-tion systems that search for the speaker’s voice to help in noisy situations. When you use these systems with a few communication tips for better hearing, listen-ing ability can be quite im-proved. Wear two hearing aids so that your brain can receive information from both ears to help you focus on what you want to hear and tune out those sounds you don’t want to hear. Face the person you want to hear. If possible, sit or stand with your back to a wall or win-

dow. Importantly, remember that even people with normal hearing experience greater difficulty in a noisy listing en-vironment than they do in a quiet listening environment.

Michael Chorba Sr., left, owner of M&M Carpet One Floor & Home, was pre-sented with a shadow box containing a section of steel from the World Trade Center by Charlie Gussman and the Stephen Still Tunnel to Towers Founda-tion in June. The foundation was established in memory of Stephen Stiller, who was killed when the towers collapsed. The foundation’s Building for America’s Bravest program builds high-tech “smart homes” for service mem-bers returning from war who have been catastrophically injured. Gussman is a retired battalion commander and served the New York Fire Department for 31 years. His battalion lost 20 members on 9/11. Carpet One Floor & Home, and Mohawk, have committed to providing flooring materials and installation for 46 of the smart homes. They are donating $10 to the foundation on the customer’s behalf for every installed job.

Smith Center for Nature and Art The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art will be kicking off the 2016 Discovery Lecture Series with Damselflies and Dragonflies on Thursday, March 10 at 7pm. This informative program will focus on the anatomy, life cycle, identification of these iconic insects, as well as their importance to the ecosystem as a whole. Return on March 13 from 8am-1pm for the 20th annual Waterfowl Watch- Ducks and Geese of the Susquehanna. Learn about waterfowl and their seasonal migration patterns. Plan to stay a few minutes or hang out all day. In past years, we have also been fortunate enough to spot majestic bald eagles fishing the chilly waters of the River. And on March 11 hear the fabulous Ann Kerstetter Band at the Colonade. The Ned Smith Center is proud to announce its Olewine Gallery exhibition, The Hidden Works of J.N. “Ding” Darling, leading political cartoonist in the 1900s and an important figure in the early conservation movement.
