Many people contin-ue to search for short-cuts and easy ways to find happiness. How-ever, many times, we find that the roads of life often take us on paths

to painful places we would rather avoid. Maybe we have gotten off the right path, lured away by hopes of a faster and easier way to have “the good life”.

In the Bible, we read that Jesus faced this same temptation. The plan was that he would come to earth as a man, live a sinless life, die to pay for our sins, rise from

the dead and then return to Heaven and wait for those people who would become his in the end. Then Jesus would return to earth and claim his rightful place as King of kings. This would take a long time. But Satan tempted Jesus and offered him a shortcut.

In Mathew 4:8-10, we read that Satan said to Jesus “I will give it all to you now if you will only kneel and wor-ship me.” But Jesus resisted temptation and responded “Satan, get away from me. I will worship and obey only the Lord God”. See, if Jesus had fallen for Satan’s tricks, he would have lost everything in the end.

See, we need to be aware of “shortcuts” that will take us away from the Lord and God’s Will. There are really no

easy paths or quick fixes in life. The path toward healing and happiness can be long and difficult at times. However, if we can stay on the right pathway, taking one step at a time, one day at a time, letting go and letting God direct us, hopefully we will find the good things in life.
