Revenge may be a dish best served cold, as they say, but it makes for piping hot televi-sion.

Shows about shady charac-ters with sinister motives keep viewers craving more, and one series in particular has audi-ences hooked. A femme fatale dishes out some serious ven-geance on those who wronged her father in ABCs hit drama Revenge, airing Sunday, Oct. 14.

The sophomore series whet viewers appetites with a phe-nomenal first season, which de-buted in September 2011. Emily VanCamp enticed viewers with her portrayal of Emily Thorne, a beautiful young woman who showed up in the Hamptons and charmed her way into high society. Taking up residence next to the powerful Grayson family, Thorne quickly set her devious plan in motion.

Viewers quickly discovered that Thorne was not the be-nevolent ingenue she appeared to be. Her real name was Amanda Clarke, and she was bent on getting revenge on the Graysons for their part in put-ting her father in jail years ago. When she was just nine years old, her father, David H. Clarke (James Tupper), was framed and sentenced to life in prison, never to see his young daughter again. Thorne/Clarke has never forgiven them, and is deter-mined to bring the Graysons to their knees.

However, the Graysons arent exactly pushovers. Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny), CEO of Grayson Global, is a calculating businessman and the person behind the crime that put Em-ilys father in jail. Madeleine Stowe stars as matriarch Vic-toria Grayson, a well-known socialite who once had an affair with Emilys father, and

also had a hand in putting him behind bars. While Victoria is skeptical of Emily, son Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) is com-pletely taken in, at least initially.

In the first season, Emily learned that daughter Charlotte Grayson (Christa B. Allen) is her younger half-sister and decided to protect the young woman from her plot for revenge.

Through thick and thin, Em-ily relies on computer hacker Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann), a former friend of her fathers and one of the few people who knows what shes really up to.

As the season unfolded, things began to unravel for Em-ily and her emotions got in the way of her plans for vengeance.

The plot thickens in Season 2 and, luckily, the talented cast seems up for the challenge. Port Perry, Ont., native VanCamp has captivated millions as the conflicted villain/heroine in Revenge, but before that she won over fans of the WBs criti-cally acclaimed Everwood. She went on to star opposite Sally Field in ABCs Brothers & Sisters, and snagged the female lead in the miniseries Ben-Hur.

Fellow Canuck Czerny made his mark on the big screen long before making his way to TV in Revenge. Hes best known for his roles in such films as Clear and Present Danger (1994), Mission: Impossible (1996) and The A-Team (2010).

Stowe is also known primar-ily for her work in feature films. Arguably the most well known of the cast, the actress has been appearing in blockbuster movies since the 1980s when she made her big screen debut opposite Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez in Stakeout (1987). Her other film credits include Tony Scotts Revenge (1990), which incidentally has no relation to the ABC series, The Two Jakes (1990), with Jack Nicholson, and We Were

Soldiers (2002), with Mel Gibson. Stowes work as the wicked Victoria in Season 1 of ABCs Revenge was rec-ognized with a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a television series.

Jennifer Jason Leigh joins the cast this season in a recur-ring role as Emilys mother, Kara Wallace Clarke. Previously presumed dead, Kara reappears on the scene, but it isnt clear whether or not her reunion with her daughter will be a happy one. Series creator Mike Kelley has hinted that there are seri-ous psychological issues with Emilys mom.

It came as a real shocker that Season 1 of Revenge was shut out of the 2012 Emmy nominations. Nevertheless, the show has been praised by critics and featured in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Week-ly and Rolling Stone.

Fans have responded in kind and the ratings have been impressive, especially consider-ing that the show had been up against such hits as CBSs CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NBCs Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in its first season. In fact, the shows Season 1 premiere won its time slot with more than 10 million viewers, and improved the ratings for the time slot from the year before, an important benchmark for networks. The last series to

do so well for ABC in that par-ticular time slot was the sci-fi drama Lost.

Revenge will tango with some new competition for Sea-son 2, however, as it moves to Sunday evenings to take over the time slot left by another titillating ABC hit, Desperate Housewives. The prime-time soap taps into the same hunger for delicious drama once deliv-ered by the ladies of Wisteria Lane, and Revenge is indeed a sweet treat for fans whove been salivating all summer. ABC even offered up an ap-petizer earlier this fall with an exclusive web series featuring a look at Season 1 highlights through the eyes of the main characters.

Ever been to a restaurant and thought to yourself, I could make this at home.

It appears Sandra Lee has. And if imitation is the sincer-est form of flattery, then Lee is about to pay some restaurant chefs a pretty big compliment.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, the Semi-Homemade host is launching her third series on the Food Network, titled Sandras Restaurant Re-makes. And just as the title suggests, Lee is looking to help home cooks recreate some famous dishes.

In this new series, cam-eras follow Lee as she visits famous restaurants around the country. While there, she samples and dissects their most famous dish, for the purpose of heading back to her kitchen to offer her own affordable take on it. Viewers

can follow her step-by-step instructions to replicate these offerings -- but with Lees trademark tricks and shortcuts that ensure the final dish will still be in line with Lees famous money-saving phi-losophy.

This isnt a new concept for Lee by any means. Its a theme that was also explored

in an episode of her other series, Sandras Money Sav-ing Meals. Its not the only new series this week from Lee, either. Over on the Cook-ing Channel, Sandra Lees Taverns, Lounges & Clubs is all set to launch on Wednes-day, Oct. 17. A spinoff from her Cocktail Time segments on Semi-Homemade, this other new series will follow Lee as she visits the hottest after-dark spots in America, from local lounges to buzzing bar scenes.

But back to Restaurant Remakes, which finds Lee branching out to cover a lot more ground. In the premiere episode, Sandra pays hom-mage to a Sin City establish-ment -- the Palms Casinos Alize restaurant -- when she offers up her twist on its deli-cious duck entree. Then the focus shifts closer to Lees home, back to New York City.

thats come before it. Two new actors are joining the cast, and a full 16 episodes have been ordered (the previ-ous seasons only ran with eight episodes).

Perhaps its no surprise that the show has been so successful, considering that the comic books on which its based (penned by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard) are also big success stories in their own right, and the rich subject matter gives the shows writ-ers and producers a lot of stellar material to work with.

The Walking Dead fol-lows sheriffs deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who wakes up from a coma after being injured in the line of duty, only to discover that the world as he knows it is irrevocably changed. Avoiding the hordes of undead walk-ers and their infectious bites, he makes his way to Atlanta in search of his wife and son.

Focusing on the personal struggles between people be-ing forced to live out an ex-istence in a world that wants them dead, the constantly looming threat of the walk-ers makes every minute of this drama an edge-of-your-seat moment. Perhaps most ominous is the realization that the survivors in this grim world are more dangerous

And the fans are as numer-ous as the legions of undead walkers. The premiere episode of the second season broke viewership records for cable programming, and that momentum carried it all through what turned out to be a strong second act.

The month of October means shorter days and some ghoulish good fun.

It also means that the dead are walking the streets once more. No, not the costumed little ones that go door to door, filling their bags and stomachs with candy and sweets. These are the walk-

ing dead that, for the third October in a row, are taking over the TV screen with their insatiable hunger.

Season 3 of AMCs huge hit The Walking Dead rises from the grave and lurches back on screen Sunday, Oct. 14, much to the delight of its fans that have made it the most-watched drama telecast on basic cable in television history.

than the roaming undead.Last season, the charac-

ters were thrown into some of the most emotionally difficult situations to date, which threatened to tear them all apart. The survivors spent most of the season on Hershel Greenes farm while they searched for Sophia, one of their own who went missing before re-emerging as a walker. In the seasons climax, Shanes unresolved feelings for Ricks wife came to a breaking point, forcing a final showdown between the two former best friends and police partners.

To date, most of the series has been set in and around Atlanta, where groups of the living struggle to survive not only the walkers, but also the threat of each other. But in the last shot of the season finale, a large prison could be seen, which will prove to be a key setting for the new season.

As Grimes, Lincoln brings a theatrical flair to the role. The English actor was probably best known for his role in the 2003 film Love Actually, but its the role of Grimes thats thrust him into the spotlight, a role that earned him a Saturn Award nomina-tion for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

Two new actors join the

cast this season, slipping into the roles of popular charac-ters from the comics. Danai Gurira (2007s The Visitor) becomes a permanent cast member as the katana-wield-ing Michonne. The character first appeared in the second seasons finale, but in that case the mysterious hooded character was played by a stand-in actor.

Also signed up is English actor David Morrissey (2006s Basic Instinct 2). He takes on the role of the governor, the mysterious leader of a barricaded utopian commu-nity where the people have food, clothing and, most criti-cally, safety from the walkers. The governor sounds like a nice enough fellow -- but if his role in the comics is any indication, he might end up becoming a major villain.

Other returning actors include Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) as Ricks pregnant wife, Lori; Chandler Riggs (2009s Get Low) as son Carl; Laurie Holden (2001s The Majestic, The Shield) as Andrea; and Nor-man Reedus (1999s The Boondock Saints) as Daryl Dixon.

The third season of AMCs The Walking Dead gets its start Sunday, Oct. 14. Tune in -- but make sure to lock the doors, just in case.

DADDYS HOME: NBCs Community is celebrating the premiere of its fourth season this week with news that an upcoming episode will feature Jeff Wingers reunion with his father.

The series has landed a stellar actor for the guest role in James Brolin, who is best known for his award-winning performance as Dr. Steven Kiley in Marcus Welby, M.D., which was a hit for ABC from 1969 to 1976.

The guest role will have Bro-lin portraying William Winger, who has not seen Jeff since he was a child. The episode is titled Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations, but the network has not yet announced an airdate.

Brolin is part of a rather significant Hollywood family. He is currently married to Barbra Streisand, who is his third wife. He and his first wife, who died in a car accident in 1995, are parents to actor Josh Brolin, who happens to be married to actress Diane Lane.

Brolin has done a slew of TV roles since the Welby days. He had leading roles in Hotel and Pensacola: Wings of Gold and more recently did guest ap-pearances in The West Wing, Monk, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Psych and The Defenders.

Hes also dabbled extensively in film work both in front of and behind the camera. While the majority of this experience came with B-list titles, he was part of the cast of such acclaimed movies as The Amityville Hor-ror (1979), Traffic (2000), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Last Chance Harvey (2008) and Burlesque (2010).

FERRIS NEW FAMILY:Matthew Broderick has led quite the prolific career since ditching class as Ferris Bueller. Now, hes about to stir up some laughs in ABCs Emmy-winning comedy Modern Family.

Broderick has signed on to guest star in an upcoming episode of the hit series, which added five more Emmy wins to its tally last month mere days before its fourth season began on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Broderick will play Phils new friend, who has many neurotic tendencies.

The actor has done very little television work through his career, instead focusing his attention on silver-screen proj-ects and theater productions. However, he did do a guest spot on 30 Rock in 2008 as Cooter Burger and then played himself in a 2010 episode of Louie.

Instead, Broderick is lauded for his versatility on film, turn-ing in terrific performances in dramas such as Ladyhawke (1985), Glory (1989) and You Can Count On Me (2000). But his penchant for making people laugh has endured. It all started in 1986 with the iconic coming-of-age comedy Ferris Buellers Day Off. Hes kept fans laughing at

ROYAL REBOUND: USAs Royal Pains has earned so many loyal subjects that it is preparing for a telefilm, and the project could serve as career re-suscitation for Emma Caulfield.

The former Buffy the Vam-pire Slayer star has bounced from project to project since that series ended in 2003. After contributing laughs and a few poignant moments as Anya in the hit supernatural drama, she was forced to resort to one-off guest roles in established shows or supporting roles in series that never managed to last very long.

But now shes getting a second chance at something big. USA is readying the two-hour telefilm, titled Off-Season Greetings, for its network pre-miere on Sunday, Dec. 16. While the main storyline will focus on the upcoming wedding for Evan (played by Paulo Costanzo) and Paige (Brooke DOrsay), it will also feature several flashbacks and a surprise snowstorm showing the Hamptons in winter for the first time in the series history.

Caulfield will portray Hanks first love, who is connected to the backstory of how Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and Evan packed up their lives to move to the East Coast and start HankMed. The cabler did not

release a name for her char-acter, nor did it divulge if

she is merely a part of flashbacks or pops into the present storyline.

One character who will make a dramatic return is Jill Casey (Jill Flint), who left Hank and the Hamptons behind in Season 4 to do relief work in Africa.

The third installment in the series, based on the book series by Helen Fielding, about a charmingly awkward British everywoman and her troubled love life, is reportedly titled Bridget Joness Baby, pretty much giving away the prem-ise right off the bat.

And for the first time, its the only thing giving it away. This film will be the first in the series not based on one of Fieldings novels, though she is collaborating on the script.

That makes her culpable for the delay, since according to The Hollywood Reporter, it was dissatisfaction with the script that caused the pro-ducer, Working Title films, to put production on hold.

However, its being worked on, and Working Titles Tim Bevan sounds confident.

The script is being writ-ten, he told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat. Bridget Joness Baby is like herding cats, but theyre beginning to fall into line.

The principal actors from the first two -- Renee Zell-weger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant -- are reportedly still on board as well.

This is also good news, since The Hollywood Re-porter said that it was Grant who was most unhappy with the original script.

He, too, has since become optimistic that the kinks would be worked out. In April, two months after the initial delay, the dashing British actor told MTV News that, Ive seen some scripts. They

havent quite hit the nail yet, but they will. Theyre working on it.

Q: I havent seen Chi McBride since Human Tar-get was canceled. Whats he been doing since?

A: Chi McBride has become the sort of respected TV sup-porting man who you just expect to always be around. Hes fuelled that expectation by always being around.

Though his nearly unbro-ken string of full-time series gigs seemed to have come to an end with the cancelation of Foxs action-adventure Human Target, in fact, its just his face thats disap-peared.

Hes still doing full-time work as the voice of Nick Fury (and occasional other roles as required) on the Disney XD cartoon series Ultimate Spider-Man.

Hes also turned some of his attention to film. He appeared in the dramedy The Family Tree last year, and just completed work on

an ensemble comedy called Pawn Shop Chronicles, which is said to be a dark comedy about a group of oddballs on a chase through a small southern town, all tied together through items found at a pawn shop.
