What’s haPPening!CATHOLIC EDUCATORS CONFERENCE/NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. There will be no school for students on Friday, October 6. Faculty will be attending the Catholic Educa-tors Conference. School will resume on Monday, October 9.

We’re getting excited about

Fall Fest!

October 20th draws near!

LIVING ROSARY. Our sixth and seventh grade students will present our beautiful Living

Rosary in the church on Wednesday, October 4, 8 a.m. Students are encouraged to bring

their rosaries for this special prayer. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will at-

tend. Dress uniforms are required and we’ll collect food for the Sacred Heart St. Vincent

dePaul Food Pantry. Parents are invited to this beautiful service.

FALL FEST SPIRIT DAY. Students and faculty will enjoy our first Fall Fest Spirit Day on

Thursday, October 5. Students may wear the 2017 Fall Fest tee shirt with long blue or black

jeans (loose fitting with no holes) or with uniform pants (shorts or long pants). No other Fall

Fest tee shirt or spirit tee shirt will be allowed this day. Students not participating will wear

the school uniform. Uniform rules still apply to shoes, socks, and outerwear.

SACRED HEART NOVENA MASS. Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will begin the 9-month

novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, October 6. Confessions begin at 11 a.m.,

Mass at 12 noon, and Novena begins at 12:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.

NO EBR BUSES ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 9. The East Baton Rouge Parish school buses

will not run on Monday, October 9.

FREE DRESS FOR RETURNED FORMS. Those students who returned all required forms earlier this year will enjoy free dress next

Monday, October 9. Students will receive a free dress pass and details on appropriate attire from their homeroom teachers later this week.

MEN’S CLUB. The Sacred Heart Men’s Club will meet Tuesday, October 10, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cafeteria. Supper begins at 6 p.m. and

the meeting begins at 7 p.m.

SCHOOL LITURGY. Our next school liturgy will be Wednesday, October 11, 8 a.m. Our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will

begin attending Mass! Mass leaders are students in 7A (Wright). Altar servers will be Carter Schmitt, Jack McKay, and Claire Tramonte.

Parents, you are always invited to attend our school liturgies. Students, remember your dress uniforms and don’t forget to bring an item

for the Sacred Heart of Jesus St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

CLUB NEWS. Please be watching for all club meeting dates in the Calendar Peek!, including Scouts, Imagination Club, Library Ambas-

sadors, Beta, beginning band, advanced band, school choir, and parish choir.

CROSS COUNTRY NEWS. Our cross country runners had another good day competing in the St. Joseph’s Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 29. In a very competitive field, the girls finished 7th out of 26 teams and the boys finished 13th out of 27 teams. The girls were led by Alana Simon with an impressive 8th place finish and a time of 13:36 for 2 miles. Other top scorers were Anna Musso, Emma Graves, Haley Jones and Hannah Jones. The boys were led by Preston Stoeckle who ran an excellent time of 13:20 for 2 miles. Other top scorers were Dawson Stoeckle, Ian Barber, Jack Massey and Ethan Hunter. The majority of our runners ran season-best and all-time personal best times. Those running all-time personal best times were Luke Broussard, Claire Graves, Emma Graves, Blake Hester, Peter Mascari and David Perrault.

BASKETBALL PICTURES. Girls basketball pictures have been rescheduled to Wednesday, November 1, Sacred Heart of Jesus School Gym. The third and fourth grade team pictures are at 5 p.m. and the fifth grade pictures are at 5:20 p.m. Order envelopes will go home with athletes on Tuesday, October 10. High School Open House Information

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION NIGHT. Young men in the eighth grade and their parents are invited to attend an Information Night at Catholic High School on Sunday, October 15, 7 to 9 p.m., Catholic High School Gym. For additional information, please visit the website at www.catholichigh.org.

ST. MICHAEL HIGH SCHOOL MEET THE WARRIORS NIGHT. St. Michael High School is hosting a Meet the Warriors Night for fifth through eighth grade Sacred Heart of Jesus School students and their families on Tuesday, October 17, 6 to 7 p.m., St. Thomas More Church. Those in attendance will enjoy refreshments and learn more about St. Michael High School. School administrators, faculty, coaches, current students, and alumni will be on hand to provide information and answer questions regarding life at St. Michael’s.

ST. JOSEPH’S ACADEMY. St. Joseph’s Academy invites sixth through eighth grade girls and their parents to Open House 2017 on Thursday, October 19, 4:30 until 7 p.m. Visitors will meet students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and parents, and enjoy tours of the campus. BATON ROUGE MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL. Baton Rouge Magnet High School will hold its annual Prospective Student Open House and Student Talent Showcase on Thursday, October 26, 8 until 9:30 a.m.

LEE HIGH SCHOOL. Lee High School will hold its annual Prospective Student Open House on Thursday, October 26, 9 until 11 a.m.

ST. MICHAEL HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE. St. Michael High School will be hosting Open House on Thursday, October 26, for sixth through eighth grade students and parents. Sacred Heart of Jesus School students are invited to visit at 6:30 p.m. If this time is not convenient for your family, feel free to visit anytime between 4:30 and 7 p.m. For additional information, visit the school website at www.smhsbr.org or call 225.753.9782.

FALL FEST ANNOUNCEMENTS ¥ Fall Fest Ticket Package orders were due on Sept 15. If

you have not turned yours in, we can still accept it. Be sure to turn in as soon as possible.

¥ Fall Fest T-shirts will be handed out this week. If you sent your Fall Fest order in after the Sept 15 deadline, your child may not get their shirt this week.

¥ We are taking Jambalaya orders until 10/17. Be sure to order your jambalaya in advance as there are very limited tickets for lunch available for purchase the day of Fall Fest

¥ Remember to save your eggshells for confetti eggs. Each dozen is one PIP hour. Please write your student’s name and grade on the carton and turn into the office. Thank you for all of your help with this!

Remember tickets must be purchased in advance to guarantee you receive your jambalaya.

A very limited number of tickets may be available the day of Fall Fest.
