Winning the championship was Thomas More Prep of Hays with a score of 333. Phillipsburg was second with a score of 351. Both teams qualified for the up- coming State Tournament. Also qualifying for state com- petition as individuals were Brooks Brown and Jake Skid- more, both of Sacred Heart; Matthew Keener, and Braden Holocek, both of Ellsworth and Sam Pahls, Beloit. Best golfer for Norton in the tournament was sophomore Quinton Porter with a 50/52- 102, followed by senior Gar- ret Otter, 54/50-104; freshman Landon Porter, 55/53-108 and freshman Will Ellis, 63/49-112. Also playing for Norton and their scores were sophomore Nick Peterson, 62/59-121 and junior Derek Rowh, 66/59-125. Because of our poor starts, we weren’t able to shoot the scores we needed to shoot to qualify for the state tournament but we never stopped competing all day. “It has been a season of im- provement and I am very proud of each and every one of our golfers. They have continued to work hard to improve and have represented NCHS in a very pos- itive manner. “With continued commitment, this group’s golf future is very bright.” Scores of teams in addition to the two which qualified for the state tournament were Sacred Heart, 351; Ellsworth, 37; Be- loit, 395; Hoisington, 418; Nor- ton, 426; Minneapolis, 475. Individual medalists were: Max Megaffin, TMP. 75 ; Brooks Brown, Sacred Heart, 77; Hayden Rohr, TMP, 79; Mi- chael Dusin, Phillipsburg, 80; Matthew Keener, Ellsworth, 84; Jaron Kellerman, Phillipsburg, 86; Lane Fisher, TMP, 89; Dan O’Connor, TMP, 90; Jack Skid- more, Sacred Heart, 91; Lucas Jacobs, Phillipsburg, 91. Northern Valley competed at the Rock Hills Invitational. Re- sults are as follows. Boys 45 pts. – 6th High Jump – Chandler – 6’0” – 4 th Long Jump – J. Baird – 19’7.25” – 3rd Pole Vault – Cole – 12’0” – 4th 100 – J. Baird – 11.74 – 5th 200 – J. Baird – 23.4 – 2 nd Bryant – 24.55 – 5th 3200 Run – B. Cox – 11:42.82 – 2 nd Kasson – 12:18.55 – 4th 400 Relay – Bryant, Chandler, Anderson, J. Baird – 46.22 – 3rd 3200 Relay – B. Cox, Kasson, Towery, Wellman – 10:26.12 – 6th Comments Jordan Baird had a good day. He placed in all three of his indi- vidual events and anchored the 400 meter relay to a 3 rd place finish. We gave Brant Cox his first shot at the 3200 and he responded well with a second place finish. Macy Kasson ran his best time of the season in the 3200. I thought Damien Well- man ran real well in the 800. Even though he did not place he set a personal record by eight seconds. Girls – 29 pts. – 8th High Jump – Cunningham – 5’0”” – 1st Triple Jump – Cunningham – 31’ 7” – 3rd Pole Vault – B. Baird – 9’ 6” – 2 nd 100 High Hurdles – B. Baird – 17.19 - 6 th 300 Low Hurdles – B. Baird – 51.59 – 4th Comments Brooke Baird placed in all three of her events. Once again she vaulted very well and is get- ting close to making 10 feet. Kortney Cunningham was our lone first place finisher with a nice jump in the high jump. She followed that up with a third place finish in the triple jump.

The Norton Community High School golf team hosted the very tough Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament last Monday on the Prairie Dog Golf Course south of Norton.

Winning the championship was Thomas More Prep of Hays with a score of 333. Phillipsburg was second with a score of 351. Both teams qualified for the up-coming State Tournament.

Also qualifying for state com-petition as individuals were Brooks Brown and Jake Skid-more, both of Sacred Heart; Matthew Keener, and Braden Holocek, both of Ellsworth and Sam Pahls, Beloit.

Best golfer for Norton in the tournament was sophomore Quinton Porter with a 50/52-102, followed by senior Gar-ret Otter, 54/50-104; freshman Landon Porter, 55/53-108 and freshman Will Ellis, 63/49-112.

Also playing for Norton and their scores were sophomore Nick Peterson, 62/59-121 and junior Derek Rowh, 66/59-125.

ent atmosphere and, added to

the fact that we were playing on our home course, we played very tight early in our rounds. Because of our poor starts, we weren’t able to shoot the scores we needed to shoot to qualify for the state tournament but we never stopped competing all day.

“It has been a season of im-provement and I am very proud of each and every one of our golfers. They have continued to work hard to improve and have represented NCHS in a very pos-itive manner.

“With continued commitment, this group’s golf future is very bright.”

Scores of teams in addition to the two which qualified for the state tournament were Sacred Heart, 351; Ellsworth, 37; Be-loit, 395; Hoisington, 418; Nor-ton, 426; Minneapolis, 475.

Individual medalists were: Max Megaffin, TMP. 75 ; Brooks Brown, Sacred Heart, 77; Hayden Rohr, TMP, 79; Mi-chael Dusin, Phillipsburg, 80; Matthew Keener, Ellsworth, 84; Jaron Kellerman, Phillipsburg, 86; Lane Fisher, TMP, 89; Dan O’Connor, TMP, 90; Jack Skid-more, Sacred Heart, 91; Lucas Jacobs, Phillipsburg, 91.

Northern Valley competed at the Rock Hills Invitational. Re-sults are as follows.

He placed in all three of his indi-vidual events and anchored the 400 meter relay to a 3rd place finish. We gave Brant Cox his first shot at the 3200 and he responded well with a second place finish. Macy Kasson ran

his best time of the season in the 3200. I thought Damien Well-man ran real well in the 800. Even though he did not place he set a personal record by eight seconds.

three of her events. Once again she vaulted very well and is get-ting close to making 10 feet. Kortney Cunningham was our lone first place finisher with a nice jump in the high jump. She followed that up with a third place finish in the triple jump.
