Humanists & Non-Theists Group - Sunday, April 6, 6PM, Fireside Room Workshop: Every-day ethics for real-life challenges. Philosophers have described three distinct approaches that people use to make ethical decisions, based on Values, Principles, or Consequences. Most of us adhere to one of these approaches, whether we’re aware of it or not. In the first part of this workshop, we’ll look at the differences between the three approaches, their pros and cons, and identify our own ethical-decision making style. Then in small groups we’ll wrestle with a real-life dilemma that many of us will face at some point in our lives, a problem which doesn’t lend itself to easy right-or-wrong answers. The emphasis will be on developing awareness of how our ethical style influences us and our peers, and whether the nature of an issue prompts us to use a different approach from the one we initially identified with. The workshop will be based on “Ethics for Everyone: How to Increase Your Moral Intelligence,” by Arthur Dobrin, a leader in the Ethical Humanist Society. Facilitated by Linda-Marie Koza. We will start off with a potluck dinner at 6PM. The workshop starts at 6:30 PM. We’ll be in the Fireside Room. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge. Our planning committee meets at 5PM before the potluck. If you have suggestions for future events or just want to help with planning, you are welcome to the planning meeting. Greetings and Welcome to Guests and to One Another…Member, Board of Trustees

"If life seems jolly rotten there's something you've forgotten. And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps, don't be silly chumps. Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing. And always look on the bright side of life ... Always look on the light side of life."

From the Movie by Monty Python "Life of Brian" (1979)
