Meteorological sub-division wise, Heat wave conditions over some parts with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets very likely over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during 26th-27th May and only heat wave conditions over these areas on 28th May. Heat wave conditions also likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Chhattisgarh, interior Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, interior Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Jharkhand during next 2-3 days. ♦ Under the influence of a Western Disturbance and formation of east-west trough in lower levels and likely occurrence of rain/thunderstorm from 28th-29th May, maximum temperatures over plains of north India likely to recede from 28th onwards with substantial reduction of Heat wave conditions from 29th May. Under favourable wind conditions over parts of central & adjoining eastern parts of India, heat wave conditions also likely to reduce from these areas from 29th May. ♦ Due to strong southerly wind from Bay of Bengal to northeast India at lower tropospheric levels; Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely at isolated places over parts of northeastern states (Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh) and Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over adjoining parts of east India during 26th-28th. Significant Weather Features

♦ Due to prevailing dry northwesterly winds over plains of northwest India, Central India & adjoining interior parts of eastern India, present heat wave conditions very likely to continue to prevails over these areas till 28th May with peak intensity on 26th May, 2020. Meteorological sub-division wise, Heat wave conditions over some parts with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets very likely over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during 26th-27th May and only heat wave conditions over these areas on 28th May. Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0530 hours IST)

♦ The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Lat.5°N/Long.85°E, Lat.8°N/Long.90°E, Car Nicobar, Lat.11°N/Long.95°E.

♦ Conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea & adjoining central Bay of Bengal around 27th May.

♦ The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan & adjoining Jammu & Kashmir between 3.1 & 3.6 km above mean sea level persists

♦ A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region & adjoining plains from 28th May, 2020.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over southeast Arabian Sea & neighbourhood at 5.8 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The trough from Chhattisgarh to interior Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level across across Telangana and Rayalaseema persists.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The cyclonic circulation between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level over southwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood persists.

♦The trough in westerlies between 1.5 & 3.1 km above mean sea level roughly along Longitude 83°E to the north of Latitude 23°N persists.

Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 31th May, 2020

♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1.

♦ Maximum temperatures likely to rise by 2-3°C over Central & adjoining Northwest India during next 3-4 days and by 1-2°C over Eastern India and south peninsular India.

♦ No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over rest parts of the country during next 48 hours.

Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days from 31th May, 2020 to 02nd June, 2020

♦ Fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershowers likely over northeast India, Western Himalayan Region; scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over plains of Northwest India, Lakshadweep and south peninsular India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to continue over northeast & adjoining East India and over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

♦ Isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
