Day 1: Board your deluxe motorcoach this morning and travel south to our first stop at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY. Old Friends provides a dignified retirement to Thoroughbreds whose racing and breeding careers have come to an end. Every horse at Old Friends has a story to tell. Enjoy a guided tour of the farm, home to Kentucky Derby and Preakness champions Silver Charm and War Emblem. Please note: this is a working farm. There may be mud and flies, and you will be walking in between the fence rows on uneven, grassy ground. Dress appropriately for the weather and conditions.

Check in to our hotel and enjoy some time to refresh before departing for an evening that will truly be spectacular! Experience the glow of thousands of pumpkins, set in a magical display of artistry. Arrive to Iroquois Park’s Amphitheater Building where a delicious buffet dinner awaits us. After dinner, enjoy the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, with over 5,000 carved pumpkins lining a walking trail illuminated at night, and featuring over 100 pumpkins that are carved into amazing works of art.

Staged in themed scenes with music, you’ll walk the 1/3 mile Pumpkin Trail and feast your eyes on this magical display depicting people, places and scenes from popular culture to old-time favorites, and everything in between. Presented differently each year, in newly themed scenes with music, each jack-o-lantern is totally different and illuminated at night as an art show. Walk the illuminated soft surface woodland path at your own pace as this is a unique opportunity not to be missed! Please note: the trail is a 1/3 mile soft

Day 2: This morning we experience the Backstretch Breakfast Tour at Churchill Downs. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to spend a morning on the backside at Churchill Downs. Get a behind the scenes view of Thoroughbred racing at the World’s Most Legendary Racetrack. Our breakfast will be in the Horsemen’s Track Kitchen and you’ll see the horses training rail side, catch them during a bath and learn about life at the track. Then, we visit the Kentucky Derby Museum and enjoy the exhibits, including the Greatest Race, a 360-degree immersive sound and visual experience that’ll get your heart racing.

Experience an “All Things Kentucky” lunch at The Bristol, one of Louisville’s most awarded premier dining destinations and a true Louisville original. Then travel back in time to 1933 to the end of Prohibition in Louisville at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Enjoy educational Bourbon tastings and a tour where you’ll learn about the legacy of Kentucky’s first distiller. All too soon, it’s time to depart for home but there’s one last stop. Our afternoon break will be at Uncle LeRoy’s General Store. You’ll have time to shop for bulk candy, chocolates made on site, jams and jellies, Amish cheeses and meats, before continuing our journey home, taking with us fond memories of Jack O’Lantern Spectacular and Louisville, Kentucky!
