THE ART OF CREATING SMILES THE ART OF CREATING SMILES Everything’s possible Several years of serious dental problems led Anabela and Marisa to hide their smile and feel embarrassed about simply looking at themselves in the mirror. When they thought they were never going to be able to smile again, MALO CLINIC changed their lives... Anabela Castanheira, 50, lives in Mealhada. Retired due to a spinal problem, she was only 17 when her dental problems began, and she was 21 when she replaced her broken front teeth "to look beautiful for her wedding". It was difficult for her not liking what she saw when she looked in a mirror, and she also felt bad for not being able to eat normally. Now she is "happy to have a new smile", "happy to go out without feeling ashamed of herself" and "happy to be able to bite an apple again". Marisa Coelho, mother of two, a 38-year-old cleaning lady from Montemor-o-Velho, had a difficult life. She fought for a long time against an alcohol addiction and for eight years now she had no teeth in her upper jaw. After fulfilling her first dream, which was being able to stop drinking, there was another dream left: to get her teeth fixed and to have a new smile. In the past it caused her anguish to look at herself in the mirror. Now she looks at herself and says she feels like a new person.
