Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers, Families, and Friends of Council 367,
October started with a lot of rain and has brought us
cooler temperatures, but has not stopped our fantastic
momentum. Once again, let’s reflect on how our recent and
upcoming events support the four principles that guide our
Order:
Charity: Over the years that I have been a member
of this Council, I have witnessed wonderful generosity over
the holiday season. As the season fast approaches, I’d like to
remind everyone of some of our charity programs that need
your continued support.
This year we will hold a “Coats for Kids Drive”
that will end November 28th. Please donate gently used,
like-new coats and shoes for kids and young adults. We will
ensure that the items collected go to needy families in our
local area.
We will also be collecting food and distributing
food baskets to less fortunate and struggling families in our
area. If you know of a family in need of a Holiday Food
Basket for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, please contact
me at 757-525-3447.
See Grand Knight’s Message, Page 3
Council Activities
November is our busiest month. Please help with
any or all of the events. TIME TO GET INVOLVED!
KNIGHTS UNITED AT MASS – The Knights
United at Mass will be held on the FIRST Sunday,
November 1, at Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic
Church at 8:00 AM, due to our Special Olympics event the
following Sunday. It is located at 216 S. Parliamont Dr. in
Virginia Beach. It’s an Eastern Rite church in full
communion with Rome and it’s quite the experience to
celebrate Mass in the Byzantine Rite. Hope to see you there.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS – Sunday, November 8th
, at
7 AM, the Council will support the Special Olympics Roller
Skating competition at Haygood Skating Rink at 1036 Ferry
Plantation RD in Virginia Beach. This is a very worthwhile,
rewarding event to volunteer to work. To see these athletes
compete and display the true meaning of sportsmanship is
one of life’s events all should witness.
For Saturday, November 7th
, at Ocean Lakes High
School on 885 Schumann Drive, Virginia Beach, will be the
opening ceremonies at 7 PM. We need 4 to 5 volunteers to
call & help with Bingo that night until around 10 PM.
Contact Brother Sean Myers at 401-5712 if you can help.
MEMORIAL MASS – A Memorial Mass will be
held at the Council at 7 PM on Thursday, November 12th.
The Mass will be held for all our Brothers who have passed
away this year. Fr. Jim Curran will be the celebrant.
CHILI COOK-OFF – Details in the Lady Auxilary
section. Trophy to the winner! Alka-Seltzer to the losers!

Knight of the Month
Simply put, our Knight of the Month for November
2015 has been there when we need him. He can always be
counted on to lend a helping hand. He’s a dedicated, loyal
supporter of every Council event that comes to mind… He
and his wife are great cooks and have treated our Council to
many meals and deserts.
It is my pleasure to announce our Knight of the
Month for November 2015 is Brother Jesus Perez.
Congratulations!
Vivat Jesus,
Rod
Family of the Month
Our Family of the Month for November 2015 can
be found supporting the Blue Mass and countless other
Council events. He is a Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful
Navigator. His wife serves as the President of our Ladies
Auxiliary and has been the key player in bringing our ladies
organization back. Our Ladies Auxiliary is doing great
things and gearing up for plenty of charitable deeds in the
near future. Their daughter, Rachel, serves as the Religious
Education Team Leader at Blessed Sacrament Catholic
Church.
I am pleased to announce our Family of the Month
for November 2015 is Jim, Linda and Rachel Pressler.
Thanks so much for all you do for our Council.
Congratulations!
Vivat Jesus,
Rod

Patriotism: On Veteran’s Day, Wednesday,
November 11, 2015 at 5:15 PM, Our Fourth Degree
Assembly will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony at Council
367. Father O’Keefe Assembly will team up with a local
Boy Scout Troop to properly and respectful retire U.S.
Flags. The stories of where some of the flags were flown
will be shared. This promises to be a great patriotic event.
Unity: On October 11, 2015, we celebrated Knights
United at Mass at The Basilica of St Mary of the Immaculate
Conception. We also held a Formation (Second) Degree
Exemplification Ceremony on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
Congratulations to Brother Jeff Dorsogna for advancing
further along to full Knighthood and to Brothers Dan Doyle
and Peter Makar when they advanced to full Knighthood
(Third) Degree in Newport News on October 17, 2015.
Fraternity: Our Annual Fall Picnic was cancelled
due to Hurricane Joaquin and postponed our inaugural
Youth Soccer Challenge which was held later.
Congratulations to Tony Pearson, Jessica Watson and Tresor
Satchivi who qualified to advance to the State Level
Championship to be held at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High
School. Thanks to Ed Webb, Barry Fitzgibbons and Worthy
Warden Mark White for the work building our goal that will
be used for years to come.
The schedule of upcoming events can be found on
our website: http://KofC367.org, on Facebook at

upcoming Norfolk Knight Newsletters

Holiday Food Baskets
Brothers, Families and Friends,
Folks, it’s that time of the year again. Norfolk
Council 367 is committed to helping feed the hungry again
this Holiday season. Now is the time to clean the pantry and
get those donations of canned goods into the Council so that
we can start to assemble our Thanksgiving Food Baskets.
Canned vegetables, yams, cranberry sauce, stuffing, corn
bread mix, rice, and anything else you can think of is needed.
The Council will be providing the turkeys for each
of the Thanksgiving baskets. Goods and donations can be
dropped off or given to the GK or any council Officer
whenever you see them.
If you know of any Family that is in need of a
Thanksgiving food basket please let us know. The Knights
that identify the Families in need will be responsible to
ensure arrangements are made for the delivery of the Baskets
to the family. We are planning to assemble the baskets and
have them ready for pickup and delivery at noon on Monday,
November 23. The names of the Families in need will remain
anonymous. Any questions, please contact me at 639-5628.

will identify the organization of their choice – Columbus
Club, Council #367, Ladies Auxiliary, 4th
Degree – to receive
$100. Bring your crock pot filled with your best chili – and
best of luck to those BRAVE enough to accept the challenge.
For the month of November we will be collecting
non-perishable food items for the holiday food baskets that
the Knights prepare each year. Preferred items are canned

turkeys. Please bring your donations to the hall throughout
the month up to November 20th

Ladies Auxiliary members or one of the Knights.
For the month of December our charity will be to
adopt a family for Christmas. We will be collecting gifts and
donations of cash through the first week of December. A
wish list will be posted at the hall for gift suggestions. The
family will be provided by Catholic Charities and they have
requested that we do not wrap the gifts. The Knights will be
supporting the Ladies Auxiliary with this charity. A jar will
be available at the Friday Night Socials for your cash
donations to this charity. Gifts can be brought to the hall and
given to one of the Ladies Auxiliary members.
The ladies have had several opportunities to
socialize the past month in addition to their attendance at the
Friday Night Socials. The Ladies Auxiliary’s second meeting
in September was held at Lone Star Steak House. On
Saturday morning, October 24, twelve of them attended a
complimentary breakfast at Nordstrom’s that included a fall
trends presentation and gifts provided by the merchant. On
the fourth Tuesday they held a social meeting at Uno’s. We
had a great time and look forward to the next social event.
Membership is open to all spouses, adult daughters, and
mothers of Knights. Please consider membership and come
join the fun.

Columbus Club Report Brothers, Family, and Friends,
On behalf of the Columbus Club of Norfolk, I
would like to take this opportunity to offer a huge thank you
to the following individuals for taking time out of their busy
schedules during the weekend of Oct 10-11 to lend a
helping hand in repainting the main hall.
Co-coordinators Steve Kocurek & Jack Michalski,
Mike Atkinson, David Cootes, Larry Forsythe, Sean
Meyers, John Person, Ron Potrzebowski, Jorge Pousa, and
Rod Watson. Thanks also to Melissa Michalski-Kocurek
and Cindy Michalski for serving food and beverages.
This was no small endeavor, there were holes that
needed spackling and sanding, walls, mirrors, and chair
rails that needed to be painted, and some other minor
repairs jobs that needed to be accomplished to ensure that
the Main Hall was once again up to standard. The finished
product is nothing short of spectacular. When you see the
above mentioned individuals around the hall let them know
what a great job they did. We will work on the PGK Bar
after the first of the year.
On another note, I have decided not to run for
re-election in our next election. I am making this
announcement now to give those interested time to make
plans for the coming year.
Vivat Jesus, Mike Atkinson Columbus Club President
