TROY RELEASES UPDATED “MOST WANTED” LIST

For Immediate Release Contact: Jeff Pirro 279-7131 (Troy – February 8, 2010) Mayor Harry Tutunjian and Troy Police Chief John Tedesco released an updated list of criminals wanted by the Troy Police Department. “We began this ‘Most Wanted’ initiative by partnering with the public to focus on those criminals who have outstanding warrants in Troy. The impact of that effort resulted in the immediate arrest of three individuals from the initial list,” said Mayor Tutunjian. “Information is as important as any tool a police officer has at their disposal and that effect is multiplied many times over when residents are willing and able to be additional eyes and ears on the street. I ask that the public continue to remain vigilant for these individuals.” “There is no greater a crime fighting tool than a community policing mindset on part of both the police and our citizenry. The Troy Police Department is dedicated to expanding our reach beyond the traditional boundaries of policing, utilizing technology and public awareness to make our streets safer. We see the 'Most Wanted' initiative as another tool we can use to carry out our sworn duty to protect and serve,” said Chief Tedesco. Last year, the City released an initial list of ten criminals that were wanted in Troy. Thanks to the publicity these individuals received, one turned himself in and one was identified as being held in jail already, who then had a warrant issued for his arrest upon release. A third individual Lamont Sneed, 26, of Troy was wanted for felony Rape 2nd Degree and felony Sodomy 2nd Degree, perpetrated on a female victim under the age of 18. An anonymous tip from the public led to the TPD’s Street Crimes Unit arresting Sneed at the Red Carpet Inn on Northern Boulevard in Albany. Tutunjian reiterated his call for the public to remain vigilant and to contact the TPD’s Tip Line at 270-5004 if they have information that could lead to the arrest of these individuals.
