In order to make a difference, TriStar111 Monaco partners up with Peace and Sport!

Peace and Sport puts Sport and its values at the heart of lo-cal development projects undertaken for communities in crisis around the world. During the weekend of sport in Monaco, the Peace and Sport organisation will have 4 teams competing in the Tri Star Monaco to raise awareness on its mission.

Among them, 4 Champions for Peace, will participate this year: Sylvia Poll-Ahrens, Wislon Kipketer, Maro Engel and Kaveh Me-hrabi.

The champions for Peace are top-level sports champions who are either still active or have retired from their sports career who wish to help disadvantaged communities through sport. They are role-models, heroes and a source of inspiration for young people throughout the world.

The Champions for Peace initiative was created by Peace and Sport to offer them a structure for com-munal expression and action to support sports projects at the service of peace and human and social development.

They give some of their time, popularity, their sporting experience and skill or resources to help projects for peace-promotion, peace-building through sport and participate in raising awareness among the public.

And this is exactly why they will be competing this year at the Tri Star Monaco 2012 !

Environmental Program

As an athlete, you have to take care about your body. As a triathlete, you enjoy swimming through clear waters, cycling through lush landscapes, and running while breathing fresh air. That’s why all Star Events commit to environmental pro-tection in partnership with the 4VITA association. Take care about Nature as much as you care about your body. You want to enjoy it a lifetime!

4VITA is the environmental program encompassing both ecological and health actions present at every Star Events race.

4VITA in TriStar111 Monaco :In cooperation with SMA, 4vita makes sure that all the waste produced inconnection with the race is well separated so that it can be later recycled • Reduction of waste. This year, plastic water bottles have been removed on all energy stations on the run course and have been replaced by municipal drinking/fresh water • All athletes are aware of the necessity to respect the Eco-zones and dispose of their trash only at the designated EcoZones • 4VITA supports the association Bouchons d’Amour which helps with waste separation and collects bottle caps, generating money to support disabled sportsmen

TriStar is an international triathlon event series held over various new distances. It was launched in September 2009 with TriStar200 Andalucía in Spain and has rapidly grown ever since. While there were ten races in 2011, their number increased to 14 in 2012 and the future will see its further rise. Several innovative formats recognized by the ITU offer a perfect complementary solution between Olympic and long-distance triathlons. Fun, Environmental protection and Social responsibility are the three main aspects of all TriStar races.

TriStar takes the world‘s most popular sports disciples – swimming, cycling and running – to serve them in the most fun and enjoyable way. New formats attracting amateurs widen the scope of people interested in participation, which makes us witness rookies standing side by side with top triathletes. Beginners are pleased by the possibility to join relay teams where they can focus on one of the three disciplines; professionals can use TriStar as a preparation for long-distance races. Shorter swim and run distances enable shortened recovery times, giving athletes the possibility to partici-pate in more races than before. More TriStar, more fun! TriStar already unveiled a handful of fresh, fun-oriented new features and there is much more to come. Legalizing drafting on some of the races makes them more thrilling than ever. Giving the possibility to race in teams of five brings the team spirit back to a sport that was for a long time perceived as individual. TriStar comes to break down the old-fashioned triathlon mindset and make everyone enjoy their race in a new, exciting way.

Useful Info for Relay Teams:

Teams of two or three com-petitors will participate in the Team Relay Challenge at TriS-tar111 Monaco! The Teams will do the exact same course as individual competitors. Here is the relevant information for Relay competitors

Start of the race is 8:15, 15min after the individuals (you are allowed to make up time!)

The timing chip is the relay baton which has to be passed on from one team member to the next in the dedicated RE-LAY ZONE between the bike park and the transition area. Locals call this place “La Rose de Vents”.

Relay members are identified by their different swimcap

color and blue race numbers.

The Swimmer has to cover the same distance as individual athletes. This means he will run through the changing tent (without changing, of course!) before running up the ramp to the Relay Zone.

Relay members have to cross each timing mat in order to be ranked - just like the individu-al competitors.

Relay competitors are encour-aged to finish the race as a TEAM. Team members that do not RUN the 10km can wait for their runner in a dedicated RELAY MEETING AREA at the beginning of the finish line to join their runner for the finish photo, the hugs, smiles and the instant party right after the finish line!
