THINK STEPHEN MINISTRY
YOU are the front lines of caring ministry in our congregation. Throughout the week, as you meet and greet those around you, think Stephen Ministry.
If you see persons who are downcast or struggling through difficult times, think Stephen Ministry. Tell them about this special ministry in our congregation where they can receive the extra love and care they need to make it through the challenge or crisis they are facing.
Stephen Ministers will “just listen” when you need to talk to someone and they will keep the conversations confidential. They will walk the walk with you until you feel ready to walk alone.
If you have any questions or referrals, contact TLC Stephen Ministry Leader Shirley McKinniss at 419-423-
9855.

Dear Church Easter 2017
He is Risen! He is risen indeed!
If you are a sports fan, perhaps you have seen a game where a single play changed the momentum and the challenger ends up winning the game over the favored team. And the stadium or fieldhouse erupts in amazement, cheers and confetti!
Easter is a bit like this. The presumed winners – think Death and the anti-godly powers – seemed to have everything wrapped up. The “messiah” is dead. No more preaching about the love of God, or of the power of self-sacrifice, or making all things new – as if things needed to change! No more caring about the outcast, the weak, the sick and the sinner. That was a non-starter. Death has the last word and that word is “Loser!”
But just when it seems like the anti-godly powers have won, there is a rumbling at the tomb, the stone is rolled away, and Jesus is there talking with Mary Magdalene, showing up again at the locked upper room, and walking with two unconsolables on their way home to Emmaus who in their sorrow didn’t even recognize him until he blessed and broke the bread. Christ Jesus was alive! Sin and death and the anti-godly powers couldn’t stop him. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
I know it seems at times like sin and death and the anti-godly powers are still undeterred, even more powerful, like they are the winners. But the decisive play has happened at the empty tomb. The result of the game is not in question. The Lord, and all of us who believe in him and in his resurrection, are the victors. God has the last word, and that word is “Life!” Abundant, love filled, God given, meant to be shared LIFE!
This is no time for the Church at large to be shrinking, or satisfied with fewer young people, or having less influence in society. This is not the time for us Christians to join “the world” in frittering life away with “amusements”. This is not the time to assume that no one will hear us, or come when invited, or give to make things happen. This is the time to share the Good News. Christ is alive. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
So who do you know that could use a little good news in their life? Can you remember who used to be excited about their faith, but now seem to be overwhelmed by the challenges we all face? When was the last time you invited someone to join us for worship, or Bible study, or to get involved in one of our TAP team projects? When was the last time you told someone that there is hope in this world, and his name is Jesus. He is Risen, you know. He is risen indeed!
Share the Good News. Tell God’s story. Invite people to experience real life. And watch the Church, the body of Christ, grow – from 12 people to billions! It happened after that first Easter. It is still happening in Africa. And by God’s grace it can happen here among us too. Pray for it…
