  • Calendar of Intercessions

Trinity and the Kingdom Season 2015

  • to this edition of the prayer diary*, which takes us through the last two months of Ordinary Time

(the remaining Sundays after Trinity) as well as that nebulous period

sometimes referred to as the ‘Kingdom Season’. It’s still a sizable document,

designed to be quick and clear to read, and also to leave space for your own notes. Of course, you do not have to print it all out at once, and you’re

welcome to reformat it, if you wish.

Sunday entries are designed to look at some of the bigger pictures in our

diocese – sometimes geographical (deaneries, archdeaconries, link dioceses)

sometimes issues or activities (Diocesan Big Day Out). If there is an aspect of diocesan life that you’d like included on a Sunday, do let me know. These are followed through the week by daily prayers from all over the diocese, and across the Anglican Communion, including the calendar of saints and heroes

    of the Church.

This month I have not included the Porvoo cycle of prayer, because I have the sense that it is not being used. If I am wrong in this, do let me know and I

    will happily reinstate it.

Finally, there is space in the daily entries for you to note any prayer requests

that have been made to you or your parish, or any special interests you want

    to remember in your prayers.

Please contact me with any comments or suggestions –

[email protected] or 01634 814439. I will also be pleased to

provide large print copies to any who would find that helpful.

The calendar is published on the Diocesan website, and also on

www.RochesterWorship.wordpress.com where you can find the next quarter’s

intercessions (hopefully) as this quarter starts to come to an end.

*I apologise for the name of this edition, which sounds like a bad film, but it

was the best I could come up with.

    Welcome

    Cobham Deanery

Please pray for the Cobham Deanery, especially for 'new beginnings' that

occur at the start of a new academic year. We pray for our work with schools

and young people, and for those children beginning new schools in

September. Please give thanks for rest and refreshment over the summer

break but also praying for those who have had a difficult Summer. We give

thanks for the working together in our Deanery, particularly with Deanery

Synod and our Clergy Chapter. Please give thanks for the Cobham group that

attended the 'Leading your Church into Growth' course and how we now put

these ideas in to practice in our Parishes. Please pray for our PCC's as they

hear about these new possibilities, but also for courage to implement them.

Bless those in leadership, especially those being ordained and those starting

    diocesan ministry courses.

Help us Lord, in encouraging and enabling new vocations and give us wisdom

and courage in our outreach work to those in our communities. Help us Lord,

in implementing the plans on our DMMP and also being more aware of where

    you are leading us.

St Edmund, Temple Hill is celebrating is its 60th anniversary in September.

Many of the churches have been running summer holiday clubs for children

and some have put on a “holiday at home” for the elderly. There was a

Christian service as part of the Dartford Festival in July supported by various

churches in the deanery. Ecumenically, the churches are pursuing the idea of a

hostel for the homeless. Housing developments are changing the landscape

especially in the northern part of the deanery. Crockenhill, Hextable and Stone

continue to work on building plans. The three churches of Darent Valley

benefice are establishing a new pattern of services, rotating between the

churches. Deanery confirmation preparation begins in September for a service
