From your BTW Headquarters

The Front Cover: This photo is of some of the participants at Trike Central During the BTW National Trike-In.

NOTICE:The Financial Statement for 2015 are com-pleted and will be posted to the Web Site this week.

It has been a busy season up until now with my final event for the year being the National Trike-In. I had extensive shoulder surgery as soon as I arrived home and will be out of co-mission for several months, then rehab. The National Trike-In was a huge success & I for one am looking forward to next year already. I would like to take this oportunity to thank all the Directors and members who gave their time to help make it such a success. Without your assistance this type of event could not be attempted. We are working on the details for next year and will be publishing the details very soon. As you will see from the lat-est financials, we still need to donate back to our Association to get rid of the old debt and move forward so we can do more of these types of events. When it comes time to donate proceeds to a charity from your local events, remember this is your Association and without the funds from you it cannot survive. I would also like to mention that if you purchase some-thing from one of our advertisers, please let them know that you saw them in our magazineso they know their advertising funds are be-ing well spent. Lynne and I had a great time at the National and apologize for not being able to attend any more events this year. I am cur-rently putting the Triker together and am typ-ing with one hand, so if you find a few more

mistakes you will know why. Many of you who were at the National got to meet Becky our GM and had a chance to see who you talk to at headquarters, This makes it a little more personal and makes life a little easier. I will be hanging around staring at my trike and Cabriolet & pulling my hair out, cause I can’t go for a ride. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the season and Ride Safe & Enjoy Triking.

BTW GENERAL MANAGER:BECKY BROWNI want to thank everyone for the warm welcome at the BTW National event in Deadwood, It was great to be able to finally put a face to the voices I hear so often. Also, On a different note we are starting to do our T Shirts in house so its been a little bit of a delay in getting it set up.. But I assure you you will have your T Shirt orders in no time at all..

Thank you all again for such a warm welcome and I look forward to meet even more of you in the future

FROM THE MEMBERSBTW - "Freedom Riders" of Northwest ArkansasThank you to the members (from 13 states) and non-members who attended helping make the Central States Regional Trike-In a success. A special thank you to the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau for helping pull everything together. We look forward to working with you for the next 5 years. Thank you to those who worked so hard on pulling this together and those who helped during the rally. Our vendors, bands, and other businesses who took part. Further recognition coming soon. The auction alone raised just over $2,986 (Missouri, you outdid yourself on baskets/Linda). Mr. Carl Lee thank you for being so gener-ous in allowing us to give the 2010 VW trike away. I wish we could have had more time for tickets, but what was raised, over $2,200. will go directly to the D.A.V. and Harrison Regional Circle of Friends/Ar-kansas Children's Hospital. We'll have an update on the total soon along with those who gave in other ways. It was great seeing so many getting to visit and ride the area together. Awesome is the word that comes to my mind. Those who ordered t-shirts at the rally they should be ready within in the next two weeks. I'll let you know when they get sent out. The same with the Region 5 patches. ((HUGS)) Cat

INTRODUCTIONWhile attending a celebration in Bellevue, Ohio everyone was asked to introduce ourselves and tell how many years we had been riding our bike of choice. Having never thought about that before, I quickly calcu-lated it and answered in turn, “forty six years”. At that metric moment in time I realized I had grown old. I had been riding as long or longer than anyone in attendance. Now, 11 years later, it has been 57 years riding. Riding throughout those years, I lived a lifetime of fun and adventure while developing many fond memories. I have ridden over 1/4 million miles and visited all but one state. I received an education, reached adulthood, loved, married and raised a family. Children and grandchildren, friendships, deaths, health issues and divorce were all part of my life. I have moved 6 times, owned 24 different cars and 64 motorcycles. I had 9 different jobs, including a mechanic at a Harley-Davidson dealership and Hitch-Hiker Sidecar. Ten different Presidents had come and gone and numerous wars and terrorists attacks have touched Americans. The only constant that endured throughout all those years was my love for motorcycles. At 14, I was on a Whizzer zooming up and down the country roads surrounding our farm, happy as a clam, riding in the wind. At 16, I saved up enough money to purchase my first real bike, a 1962 Honda Dream. Less than a year later I bought a second hand 1962 BSA 650 Lighting. My motorcycle addiction was in full swing and I enjoyed every minute of it. By the time I was 21 and married, I had owned 3 new Norton Commando’s but was far from finished with different brands. In 1972 I bought my first Harley, a 1958 1200 FL Duo-Glide, blue and white, all stock with 58,000 miles. As soon as it was in my garage I began to chop it. That was the start of a whole different era in my life. In 1978 I purchased my first Goldwing and my Trike building and riding began in 1998. I am so enthusiastic about Trikes that I wish I would have had one in High School. Because of health concerns, trike riding is now an absolute. After building 3 Goldwings into trikes, I am now the proud owner and rider of a 2003, 1776 mo-tor, Volkswagen Trike. My lady and I are also exuberant members of BTW. At my age this will probably be the last trike I will own, but who knows. My love for motorcycles and trikes remains as strong now as ever. I enjoy looking at motorcycles and trikes while collecting all kinds of memorabilia as much as I love riding. I don’t mind working on them when necessary either. I read about bikes and trikes and look them up on the Internet. All my best friends ride motorcycles or trikes and I still meet and make new friends at events and travels. I have never seen or met a motorcycle or trike I didn’t like or their riders. Motorcycling has lifted my spirits and renewed interests whenever I question my sanity. Geno

In Memory of Trikers Lost

MayThey Rest In Peace.

Donald E. Tedrow (1946 - 2016) passed away Saturday, August 13,A BTW member from Jackson-ville IL. Donny loved to ride his trike and will be missed by all

Carl Cobb SR..Born 1933-2016 Carl was a US Army Vet, a member of BTW. AR Bikers for Children He was loved by all that knew him. Carl had many friends in the organizations that he was a member of. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and loved ones.

Robert “Broski” Burns passed away on July 20th 2016. Bob was a true patriot who served our great nation well, with pride & honor in the101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Return-ing home to raise a family and carve out his piece of the American dream. Bob became a member of the “BTW” family in 1994. He was known for the many trikes he built, and rode throughout his 22 years with the BTW. To know “Broski” was to know a true friend and brother, as he truly put meaning to the word “Brother” in “Brothers of The Third Wheel” He stayed involved to his final days, help-ing young chapters get rolling. It was just less than 3 years ago Bob became a member of the “North Sound Threedom Riders” Helping us along in the early struggles of a new Chapter. And most recently was a major force in the formation of the “Pahrump Free Trikers” Even creating their patch. He will truly be missed, and always in our thoughts and memory’s as we ride the free and open roads of this great nation.

Richard A. Stephen was a member of BTW. Unfortunately he passed away on the 13th of June 2016. He will be missed

Bob Farber passed away 15th of this July, he rode with BTW Northeast WindRider Trikers. for quite a few years, we had a lot of good times, he will be missed by all of us

BTW BOD Elections 2015 BTW is split into 10 Regions; 9 of these regions are in the USA and Canada and the final one covers all areas outside of the USA & Canada. Each Region has a Regional Director. The Regional Directors serve as the Board of Directors. The Board makes decisions regarding the running of BTW, with each Regional Director being elected for a three-year term by the Directors in their Regions. If your Regional Director is not participating in the Board Meetings or being in touch with the Directors in their region, it is up to the membership to request them to step down. The Regions are set out on the Contact page on the forum and in every Triker. For more info, contact Headquarters. If it is your Region’s turn to vote for your Director, have your Chapter or State Director contact HQ and get the documentation for the election.

The nomination period for these posts ends May 1st, and any names submitted will be added to the list of nominees for the regions, if no names are submitted for the position, the previous representatives will remain in their post for the next three years. As you will see REGION 7 is still awaiting a representative so if you are a fully paid up member in Region 7 ( DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, WV) Please get in touch with HQ and discuss the post and the possibility of you taking this on. Shaun & Jackie Lloyd (HT & Mrs HT), BTW B.O.D. Election Committee.
