About the ProgramTake your depositions to the next level at AAJ Education’s Advanced Depositions College. This program provides the strategies and techniques to enhance the performance of even the most experienced plaintiff lawyer.

Built on the fundamentals of AAJ’s Depositions College, the Advanced Depositions College provides an in-depth, cutting-edge approach to perfecting depositions and witness preparation skills. This program features a low student-to-faculty ratio, comprehensive lectures, useful demonstrations, and five recorded workshops to prepare you for success in both depositions and the courtroom. During these workshops, practice new skills and receive detailed feedback from experienced faculty.

Learn and Practice Advanced Techniques in Recorded Workshops:• Discovery plan and witness goals• Lay witnesses: Exhaustion, boxing-in, restating and summarizing, nonverbals,

mirroring• Document discovery and “Death star” depositions• Establishing standards of care and conduct• Deposing experts

Invited FacultyRICHARD D. HAILEY concentrates his practice in personal injury litigation. Mr. Hailey is a past president of the American Association for Justice, a Diplomate of AAJ’s NCA, fellow of the Pound Civil Justice Institute, and member of AAJ’s National College of Advocacy (NCA) Board of Trustees. The law firm of Ramey & Hailey is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

MARK R. KOSIERADZKI concentrates his practice in products liability, wrongful death, spinal cord injury, amputation, nursing home abuse, and burn litigation. He has served on the American Association for Justice’s Board of Governors, is past chair of the Nursing Homes Litigation Group, is a member of the NCA Board of Trustees, is a Leaders Forum member, and is a Diplomate of the NCA. Mr. Kosieradzki is the creator of the Deposing the Corporate Representative: 30(b)(6) Depositions DVD. The Kosieradzki • Smith Law Firm, LLC is in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

WILLIAM P. LIGHTFOOT limits his practice to plaintiff’s personal injury claims. He is a Diplomate of AAJ’s NCA. Mr. Lightfoot is a past member of AAJ’s NCA Board of Trustees and is a former Council Member at Large for the District of Columbia, where he chaired the Committee on Judiciary. Mr. Lightfoot is managing partner at Koonz, McKenney, Johnson, DePaolis & Lightfoot in Washington, DC.

THOMAS S. MCGRATH concentrates in construction and consumer law, representing the rights of homeowners in new construction home defects, termite & pest control claims, and real estate fraud. PHILLIP H. MILLER has an exclusively personal injury practice. Mr. Miller has handled a wide range of cases including trucking litigation, nursing home claims, pharmaceutical torts, and day care center child abuse. He is a former member of the American Association for Justice’s NCA Board of Trustees and a Diplomate of AAJ’s NCA. SACH D. OLIVER conducts the opening and closing statements, jury selection, and direct and cross-examination of witnesses for the Bentonville, Arkansas based firm Bailey & Oliver. A graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law, he was awarded the Best Oral Advocate in the National Trial Competition and the Outstanding Young Trial Lawyer by the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association in 2008.

ELISE R. SANGUINETTI has exclusively represented plaintiffs in civil litigation for more than 15 years. She concentrates her practice in serious injury, wrongful death, civil appeals, and legal malpractice litigation. She received the American Association for Justice Joe Tonahill Award and the Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award in 2010, the Woman Consumer Advocate of the Year Award from the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) in 2012, AAJ’s Weidemann & Wysocki Citation of Excellence in 2004, 2007, and 2013, the CAOC Presidential Award of Merit (2010-2011), AAJ’s Distinguished Service Award in 2010 and 2013, and the Outstanding Contributions Award, AAJ New Lawyers Division, in 2003-2004 and 2011. Ms. Sanguinetti has chaired or served on over 20 task forces for AAJ. Sanguinetti Law is located in Oakland, California.

PAUL J. SCOPTUR, course advisor, has been a trial lawyer representing plaintiffs exclusively since his graduation from Marquette University Law School in 1978. He is a trustee and past cochair of the National College of Advocacy (NCA) Board of Trustees and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School, where he has taught litigation and trial skills. Mr. Scoptur is a Diplomate of the NCA and was one of the first lawyers to complete the Advanced Studies in Trial Advocacy (ASTA) curriculum offered by the NCA. He is coauthor of Advanced Depositions Strategy and Practice (Trial Guides) and has produced a DVD of the same title. He also produced The Defense Medical Examiner deposition DVD with Phillip Miller.

TAD THOMAS, course advisor, concentrates his practice in civil litigation, including motor vehicle and trucking collisions, medical negligence, accounting and auditing negligence, products liability, class actions, and other serious personal injury matters. Mr. Thomas serves on AAJ’s NCA Board of Trustees and several committees, including the Law Schools Committee, as vice chair of the Sole Practitioners and Small Firms Section, and donates to AAJ’s PAC. ROBYN L. WISHART handles a wide variety of cases, including complex personal injury, insurance litigation, defamation, environmental claims, landlord-tenant disputes, commercial arbitrations, and employment and labor.
