    It is reported from H azrat A bdullah Ibn K hubaib

    ( J ) that once on a dark rainy night, we went

    out in search of Rasulullah ( ) and we found

    him. Rasulullah (ij^ tp.J said, Say. I inquired,

    What should I say? He said: Say,0 ( S u r a h Ik h la a s ) (Three times) @

    Trans: Iseek protection of A llah, the All- hearing,

    A ll- know ing from shaitaan, the rejected one.

    followed by the last three verses of Surah Hashr

    once, Allah Ta'ala will appoint over him 70,000

    angles who will beg for forgiveness on his behalf

    until nightfall and if he happens to die during

    the course of the day, he will die as a martyr.

    And whoever recite this at night, he will attain

    the same reward. ( M i s h q a a t , p g . 1 8 8 )

    T r a n s : He is A lla h, other than Whom there is no one

    worthy of worship; Who kncnvs (all things) both secret

    and open; He is Most Gracious, Most Merciful

    He is A llah, other than Whom there is no one worthy of

    worship; The Sovereign, the Holy One ( free from

    blemishes), The Source of Peace (and perfection).

    The Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the

    Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Justly Proud;

    Glory to A llah! (Hig h is He ).He is A llah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner;

    to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: Whatever is

    in the heavens and on earth, both declare His Praises

    and Glory: A nd He is Ex alted in Mig ht, the Wise.

    One Wali of Allah said, that daily, before he has

    breakfast he obtains 70,000 angels to beg forgive

    ness on his behalf by reciting the above verses.

    security to His friends from all types of calamity.

    Thus, His friends become secure from the

    threats of their enemies.

    Who grants peace from all types

    of difficulties.

    0 The Perfect Designer, i.e. Theone who designs with wisdom.

    brings variety into His creation through

    difference of form i.e. outward appearances.

    T r a n s : "Allah is sufficient for me. There is no one

    worthy of worship besides Him. Upon H im haveI placed my trust and He is the Sustainer

    It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda ( )

    that Rasulullah said; Whoever recites

    the above dua seven times in morning and

    evening, Allah will suffice for him and free him of

    all worries in both this world and the hereafter.

    By reciting this small verse, why does Allah

    Ta'ala become sufficient for all the worries of

    both worlds? In this dua the words;

    Allah will remove 70 calamities-from him, the

    There is no way to escape and no protection

    Cyt) from Allah's wrath and punishment.

    but by taking refuge in the pleasure and mercy

    of Allah Ta'ala. Mu l l a h A l i Q a r i ( ) has

    1- This Ka l ima ... S jH j J jP j is from the treasures

    of J a n n a t from beneath the A r s h of Allah Ta'ala.

    The roof of J a n n a t is the A r s h of Allah Ta'ala.

    By its recitation, an inclination is created for

    good deeds and disinclination for bad deeds.In. this sense it is a treasure of J a n n a t .

    2 Rasulullah said that ...

    is a cure for 99 diseases of both the worlds, the

    lightest of which is worry. (Mirqaat, Vol. 5, pg. 121)

    3- When any one reads this, then Allah Ta'ala

    teils the angels that My servant has becomeobedient and has left all disobedience. As

    reported in a hadith by H a z r a t Ab u H u r a i r a h

    that Rasoulullah said: Should

    I not inform you of a Ka l imawhich is of the treasures

    ofJ a n n a t from beneath the A r s h of Allah Ta'ala?

    It is S j W j - J When anyone reads this, then

    Allah Ta'ala tells the angels that;

    My servant has become obedient and has left

    all disobedience,

    and he has completely entrusted his affairs ofboth worlds to Me. (Mirqaat , Vol . 5 , pg. 1 2 1- 1 22 )

    Is it not a great bounty from Allah Ta'ala that

    when the servant reads this k a l i m a , Allah Ta'ala

    remembers him in His Throne in the gathering

    of angels.

    Hadhrat Muhammad ( )

    This k a l i m a was a message and

    an advice of Hazrat Ibrahim ($ 1) to Hazrat

    Muhammad (issMJ P ) on the night of Miraaj,

    Hazrat Ibrahim (8SS1) toldNabi ('fcsiHSW on the

    night of Miraaj to tell the Ummah that they must expand

    (increase their gardens)in Jannah by reciting the above.

    Hazrat A bdullah Ibne Ma s ud ( ) narrates

    that I presented myself in the service of Ras ulullah

    ). I recited Jhb'iS Rasulullah

    ) asked! "Do you know what it mcanr,? I

    replied, A llah and His Rasul know best.

    Rasulullah ) said: CfJ y ^ ' There is

    no strength to refrain from sins but with the frrotection

    of A llah 5 y *$j - and there

    is no power over good deeds but with the help of A llah.

    The unique feature of this hadith is that the

    meaning of the words of Rasulullah

    are explained by Rasulullah ) himself.

    Through the word ( ) used in (U -jiiU ), we

    have understood that this word ( ) can also be

    used for the explanation of hadith. The compiler

    THE PRESERVING OF ONE'S MATERIAL POSSESSIONS

    It has been narrated by Hazrat A bdullah Ibne Umar

    ( ) that Rasulullah ( ) said:

    O Allah, I seek protection in You from the snatching of anyof Your favours and the withdrawal of your protection,

    and of sudden calamity, and of all forms of Your angeri s ' x x

    T h e D if f e r en c e B e t w e e n J A n d J'jjJ 'j j - When something does not remain andabove that there's no other calamity i.e. when

    someone's goods are lost and at the same time

    no other calamity befalls him.} XJ y J - When a bounty is taken away and with

    that a calamity also befalls him.

    In the hadith, protection is sought from both

    grieft and I seek protection in You from helplessness and

    laziness, and I seek protection in Youpom stinginessand cowardice, and I seek protection in You from over

    It has been narraied by H az r a t Abu Sa e ed Khud r i that a person asked, " O Rasulullah

    upon this dua, morning and evening thus Allah

    Ta'ala removed his worries and freed him fromhis debt.

    It has been narrated by H az r a t Abu Bak r (

    that Rasulullah (-i lt lp*) said: "Ascribing partners

    to Allah in my U m m a h is muchmore hidden

    than the pace of an ant crawling upon a black

    stone on a dark night. Sh i r k is a very hidden

    thing. It enters the heart very silently and veryfew are saved from it. Upon hearing this H a z r a t

    Abu Ba k r ( ) asked in a frightened manner

    , how can one be saved

    from it. "Rasulullah ( ) said: "Should I not

    show you such asupplication that if you recite

    it you will be 0* freefrom minor and major sh i r k " Rasulullah

    instructed him to say this:

    In the above A a y a t , Allah Who is the King of all

    Kings has revealed to His servants the necessity

    of steadfastness and good death; and when the

    Supreme King teaches us how to present our

    request, then why should our request not be

    accepted. This steadfastness is a great wealth

    which is a means for our entrance into J a n n a h .

    Few important points are being mentioned from

    Ruhul M a a a n i which will enhance the pleasure

    in making this d u a .

    1- The word i m e a n s steadfastness on Deen.

    A l l am a A l o u si ( ^ j ) says:

    2- By revealing the two related words and

    viU i i after uJ fcj , Allah Ta'ala has enhanced

    the desire of His servant for the real objective

    i.e. steadfastness on De e n . Like when a father

    pulls his hands up after showing a sweet to

    increase the desire of a child. The child there

    after, jumps up and down to get the sweet

    eagerly. This is asthetically a decendent topicfor this blessing. (As me ntioned in R uhul M a aani).

    The reason for similating this topic with the

    word is that the two blessings i.e steadfastness

    on Deen and death on I m a a n are dependent

    on eachother. These two great blessings due

    entrance to J a n n a t , could never be the reward ofour limited efforts of our limited life. Therefore,

    Allah Ta'ala has informed his slaves of this

    important reality that beware! Never even think

    it to be reward of any of your deed.

    This steadfastness on Deen, due to which death

    on Im a a n is linked, cannot be bought, because

    the prayers offered for 80 years and fasting for80 years should buy J a n n a t fo r 80 years. But

    eternal life in J a n n a t for limited efforts, could only

    be due to the benevolance of Allah. Therefore,

    one should request with for it is without a cost.

    And in (bestowal), the giver gives due to

    His limitless benevolance.

    T rans: In the clause of (bestowal), A llah

    T a'ala has similated it to indicate that this blessingmeans that the power of doing a good deed is from

    to whom* so'ever He wishes. AsA llah is the greatest

    Provider and can forgive limitlessly.

    time, except when a person seeks refuge in

    It has been narrated in a h a d i t h , that a person

    once went to fulfil one of his personal needs.

    He sat near a gathering of people making Z i k r .

    Allah proclaimed forgiveness of all those who

    were engaged in His remembrance, including

    this person. An angel said: O A llah, this sinfulperson did not come to make Zikr but came for some

    personal need, and perchance joined the gathering *

    Allah Ta'ala replied:

    (Like the servant of a respected guest enjoys the

    same bounties as the guest himself).

    To love someone for the sake of Allah Ta'ala

    is a great means of attaining death on I m a a n

    love by having love for the friends of Allah.

    Mu l l a h A l i Q a r i ( ) mentions in ( M i r q a a t

    Vol. 5, pg . 7 4) that once the sweetness of I m a a n

    enters the heart it will never depart. (It is a

    royal gift from Allah Ta'ala which will never be

    taken back).

    Thus death on I m a a n is linked to the acquisition

    of the sweetness of Im a a n , which is due to

    the love one possess for the friends of Allah.

    M u l l a h A H Q a r i ( I ) says a person will

    attain a sincere love of Allah Ta'ala when:

    1 Ones love should not be for any ulterior

    motive.

    2 It should not be for any compensation.3 It should not be for any material gain.

    4 It should not be for any worldly pleasure.

    5 It should be free from carnal des ires.

    and obviously a person can only attain this

    To spend one moment in the company of a W ali of A llah

    is better than a hundred years of accepted Nafli Ibaadat

    Hakeem - u l - Um ma t H az r a t Thanw i (J*J>Iz ?j ) explains

    this that by spending time with the A u l i y a A l l a h ,

    one's I m a a n becomes so strong that it is unlikelyfor one to leave the fold of Islaam. He could

    commit a sin, but would never leave Islaam

    and become renegade. On the other hand,

    shaytaan worshipped for thousands of years,

    but his worship could not save him from becoming

    rejected. For it is obvious that the thing that saves

    one from becoming renegade would definatelybe better than thousand years of { I b a a d a t ) . All

    thanks are due to Allah Ta'ala Who made it

    possible to finish the seven prescriptions for death

    with I m a a n . May Allah Ta'ala give us all the ability

    to practice them. I request the readers of this

    booklet to pray for me that Allah Ta'ala through

    His Mercy, bless me with steadfastness onDe e n and death on Im a a n .

    No t e : While reciting this Dua , on reaching the

    underlined words, one should think of

    one's problem. It is desirable that the I s t i k h a r a h

    be performed seven times. If one is still in

    doubt, he should continue to perform I s t i k h a r a h

    for seven days. If the matter is urgent, this D u a

    should be read seven times, once after every

    two r a k a a t s .

    A l l a m a Sh a a m i ( has mentioned a

    narration reported by H a z r a t A n a s

    that it is desireable that the I s t i k h a r a h be

    performed seven times. And if time does not

    permit, then perform two r a k a a t s of Na f l Sa l a a t

    seven times in one gathering and thereafter

    recite this d u a .

    SALAAH OF REPENTANCE

    If one broke or disobeyed any of the com

    mandments of Allah, one should perform two

    r a k a a t s of N a f l Sa l a a t , and with a lot of regret

    and sorrow and tears, ask for forgiveness from

    Allah.

    It comes in a h a d i t h that if one cannot cry, one

    should imitate a crying person. One must make

    a firm intention never to repeat the sin again.

    I n s h a - A l l a h , with the grace of Allah Ta'ala,

    he will be forgiven.

    necessary to recite the k a l im a h " ^ "

    in abundance, and to continuously abstain from

    sin. Many Muslims lost their I m a a n at the time

    of death due to evils of sins.

    During the time of Nabi ( sbs - vlp* ) a Sahab i who

    was on his deathbed was unable to recite the

    k a l i m a h . Rasulullah enquired from him

    as to the reason. He replied that it seems as if

    there is a lock on his heart. It was established

    that his mother was unhappy with him because

    he used to ill-treat her. Nabi ( ) called the

    mother and asked her if she would intercede

    on behalf of her son if it was said that her son

    would be thrown in the fire. She replied in the

    affirmative. Rasulullah commanded

    her to forgive her son. No sooner had she done

    so, the son started the k a l i m a h .

    t is mentioned in a h a d i t h that the person whoj, i *

    recites the k a l i m a h .oil with sincerity

    shall enter J a n n a h . Upon enquiry as to what

    was meant by sincerity, Nabi ) said:

    To abstain from that which A llah has prohibited

    Therefore, if a person dies without making T aubah,

    he will first be punished before entering Jannah,unless Allah forgives him through His Mercy.

    INCIDENT: Recently a person who was on Lis

    deathbed and would utter every word bui ho

    could not utter the word "T aubah" and he died

    in this condition. This was because he used io

    continuously commit sins without making T aubuh.

    This is the evil effect of sins.

    EXTRAORDINARY WAZ1FAA

    Hazr at Abu Ayub A nsari ( .Je jil- Sj) narrated thot

    when Surah Fateha, A ay atul K ursi, S hahidallah

    and A llahum ma M aalik al Mulk were reveaL-J ,

    they clung to the Throne of Allah and said:

    Are You going to reveal us to such people who arc full t >j

    sins? Allah Ta'ala said to them: By the oath of M\

    Grandeur and Magnificence, whosoever recite you uju i

    every Fardh Salaah,We w ill forgive them and We n'ill

    grant them a place in J anna tul Firdous. A nd Wc u'ill

    look at them 70 times daily with gaze of mercy, and We will

    fulfil 70 of their needs, the least of which is forgix'cm .
