“THE TREASURE HUNT TOUR”

Jesse Macht’s Summer 2014 Tour supporting the release of SUITCASE HEART

My intention for the release of SUITCASE HEART, the LP, was to share heartfelt and genuine stories of my life and my perspective at this moment in time. I feel like this record is a treasure of mine and, on tour, I asked my audiences if they would be willing to give me something special of theirs - their “treasure” in trade for this album which is so meaningful to me.

The following pictures are the treasures I received, along with short paragraphs of what they meant to those people.

TREASURE HUNT TOUR

“My uncle, Dennis, gave me this little sculpture a few years back. He gets on a kick of different projects and sometimes I'm lucky enough to be given one. This is one of four of his projects I had in my house. When Jesse came to our home for a concert in July, I was looking around, trying to figure out what I might give him. This piece is special to me because it came from my uncle, and it's sat on my shelf as part of a collection of other knick knacks that remind me of different trips, people, etc.. But I recently got married, and having a piece with just my initial on it felt more singular in what was now a joint home. With that in mind, I gave this to Jesse to pass on the family love it represents, as I've known Jesse a long time and hold a lot of love and respect for him. I'm grateful to have gotten another piece of art in return, a labor of love by Jesse - and a record I've listened to more times than I can count!”

“ I wore that bracelet during the summer which is the best time of my life. Now I want you to have that bracelet and create more fun memories. Also we’re matching so no matter what happens we will always be together!” Rebecca Barsky - Bethesda, MD

This bracelet was given to a girl by her potential mother in law. As the story goes, the mother-in-law gave her this to remind the girl that when she goes on trips with her son, she she would like to receive presents too. When the engagement was called off, the girl’s heart was broken but she continued wearing the bracelet, holding on to old memories. After seeing the show, the girl said she was so touched by my songs, and, feeling like we were kindred spirits, she was ready to let go of the bracelet and give it to me.

Anonymous - Dallas, TX - This woman loved her necklace and wanted me to remember the show we shared in Dallas.

“Poppies are worn every Remembrance Day here in Canada; our equivalent of America’s Veterans Day. My grandfather was a World War II veteran and this was the last poppy I bought the year he passed away. I would wear it every year, and actually kept it pinned in my car. I recently lost the pin so I have kept it in my office drawer at work everyday.”

Karolyn Carnie - Toronto, Canada

This bill represents the money from the Republic of the Philippines. This woman kept it in her wallet in order to remind her of the rest of her family whom she had never met until last year. She had found out who her father was and where he was living so she traveled back to the Philippines and met him and the entire family he had including cousins, half-brothers and sisters, etc. She was so happy to have found the treasure of family and she wanted to share that story.

Andrea Goldberg - Southampton, NY: These fun glasses were given out on the dance floor at our son, Jon’s wedding! ”

This owl was given to Leigh by her niece. The 7 year old loves to give presents but because she can’t buy any on her own, she likes to sneak around her house and take something that is already there, wrap itup and re-gift it to the family. The owl keychain was given to Leigh and, thinking it was the cutest thought ever, gave it to me as one of her real “treasures.”

“Sari made the plane at a local pottery place - it was the first thing she ever made there. When she picked out the plane to give you, she told me that she wanted you to be able to share your music at many houses, so she thought you could use her plane to get there.”

This was one of Bob Matsey’s son’s favorite toy cars. He wanted to give it to me to remember the fantastic house concert we had on the lake in Charlotte, NC. The lake was majestic and Bob took the other guests and me out on the lake at Sunset. It was a wonderful concert.
