l SRO researches feasibility of implementing camera initiative in Ottawa
l SRO begins consultation with Legal Services and Police Services

3Highway Traffic Act School Buses / Section 175
l Any vehicle shall stop for;
...a stopped school bus that has its overhead red signal-lights flashing, shall stop before reaching the bus and shall not proceed until the bus moves or the overhead red signal-lights have stopped flashing.

4Current Enforcement
Requires:l Sufficient evidence identifying the vehicle owner or
driverl Sufficient evidence as to the violation:
observations of police officer and/or evidence of witness (e.g. bus driver)
The driver and/or owner can be charged: l Ticket: $485 l 6 demerit points against driver

March/April: Launch of Road Sign Design
May to June: Pilot Project Implementationl One camera installed on a Bradley Bus (on loan)l Camera is turned on while bus is in operationl Footage provided to Ottawa Police Services for evaluation
July to December: Pilot Project Evaluation Evaluate the effectiveness of the camera Tickets issued by Ottawa Police Service Monitor any prosecutions via the Provincial Courts
Spring 2015: Bring forward report to TRC on next steps
