Transportable Housing Container

Im kurzen finnischen Sommer zieht es

viele Städter hinaus in die Natur. Für diese

»Stadt-Nomaden« entwickelte der Architektden Prototyp des »Sommer-Containers«, ein

transportables Einraum-Haus, das einen

Wohnsitz, ein Feriendomizil in den Wäldern

bietet. Ist der geeignete Ort gefunden, wird

der Container auf einem Anhänger angefah-

ren und mit simplen Auflagehölzern an das

Gelände angepasst. Die Holz-Box funktio-

niert nach dem Prinzip einer Streichholz-

schachtel: In die einseitig offene äußere

Rechteckform ist ein ausfahrbarer Raumteil

eingeschoben, in dem sich der wandelbare

Sitz-Schlafplatz mit darunter liegendem

Stauraum befinden. Ist der Raum zu voller

Größe ausgefahren, schafft ein Klapptischeinen Sitzplatz neben der fest eingebauten

Küchenzeile. Die Tür, die Lüftungsöffnungen

und die Fenster aus Acrylglasscheiben

oder Hohlkammerplatten sind durch Außen-

klappen verschließbar. Geöffnet bilden diese

an der Tür ein Vordach und eine Rampe.

Die Holzkonstruktion besteht aus Holzrah-

men, die mit Polystyrol-Hartschaumplatten

ausgefacht und mit Sperrholzplatten beklei-

det sind. Sämtliche Holzverbindungen sind,

bis auf einige untergeordnete Anschlüsse,

mit Holzleim hergestellt. Das Sperrholz ist an

den ausfahrbaren Flächen, den Innenseiten

des Raumes und der Klappen in den unter-schiedlichen Farben des Waldes gefärbt.

 in is in a closed position. The door flaps, when

opened, form a canopy over and a ramp up

to the entrance. The container has a timber-

framed structure with an infill of polystyrene

 rigid-foam slabs. It is clad internally and exter-

 nally with plywood sheeting. Virtually all the

timber connections are adhesive fixed. The

cabin can be equipped with a cooker, a

 heating stove, water tanks and a sink, with

electricity supplied by solar panels or a wind

 generator. The varied colours of the plywood

 surfaces reflect the coloration of the forest.

In the short Finnish summers, many town

dwellers go out into the countryside in search

of unspoilt nature. For these “urban nomads”,the architect has developed a prototype

“summer container”, a transportable single-

 room dwelling that can serve as a holiday

 home in the woods. Once a suitable site has

 been found, the timber cabin can be trans-

 ported on a trailer, set on the ground and

 levelled by means of timber blocks. The con-

tainer is based on the pr inciple of a matchbox.

It consists of a wooden cube with an opening

 in one side, through which an extension

volume can be drawn out. This inner element

contains two beds and a storage space be-

 neath the raised floor. Once the unit has been
