What is a transpiration? Transpiration( also

known as sweating or hyperhidrosis) is a process similar to evaporation.

It is the loss of water vapour from parts of plants, especially in leaves but also in stems, flowers and  roots.

What is a transpirational pull?

Water is absorbed by the roots, through the stem and then to the leaves where it evaporates.  The water transports the nutrients from the soil that the plant needs to grow.

Transpirational pull only works in plants and trees because of the presence of xylem in their stem.
