WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE CHANGES: We are making some changes to our weekly Mass schedule. Monday we will have a communion service at 11:00 am in Upper. Tuesday, we will have Mass in Kirby at 7:00 pm. The communion service will be a little different. It will be part of the adult formation program. For this service, rather than using the readings for the day, we will incorporate a scripture study. We will begin with the Gospel of Mark and continue this study every Monday. You are encouraged to bring your bible, to take notes and to ask questions. Please plan to attend! RCIA- THE CHRISTIAN INITIATION PROCESS: Initial steps in this process include a series of inquiry sessions where interested people can have their questions answered about our Catholic faith. Meetings are scheduled as interest is expressed. This initial phase is not a time of commitment, but rather a time of inquiry. It is through the people of the parish, who are the soul and spirit of the local church, that others are drawn to our faith. If you know someone who would like to know more about our faith and the Catholic Church, please invite them to contact Deacon Kevin at 419-294-1268. New inquirers will meet with Deacon Kevin for an initial interview session. Our fall sessions will begin on September 5, 2017. Thank you for helping to spread the Good News of our faith and furthering the work of Evangelization in our parish!

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS: Please bring food donations to the Masses on the THIRD week-end of the month. Thank you for making the effort to help those who are less fortunate. If you forget your donations on the third weekend, simply bring them on any other weekend and put them in the side sacristy in Upper or in the entrance at the Chapel in Kirby. Folks continue to experience hunger all year long, so please keep donating. Thank you! SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM & BAPTISM CLASSES:

At the Transfiguration, Father, You showed Jesus in glory, a glimpse of what His disciples

would see in His risen life. Bless us in our humanity,

with an awareness of Your presence, leading us to share in Your divine life

even in our daily struggle. Help us to deepen

our knowledge of the Law and the Prophets, channels of Your grace throughout history,

and signposts for our journey. Amen.

FOR THE LOVE OF PETE RAFFLE: Attention all parishioners and school families, you should have received your 2017-2018 For the Love of Pete raffle ticket in the mail. If you have not, or know someone else who would like a ticket, please contact Amy Hinesman- [email protected]. There will be an early bird drawing at St. Peter School Open House on August 21. Purchase your ticket early to have a chance to win an additional raffle ticket at open house. Three early bird winners will be drawn. The first monthly drawing for $1,000, $500, and $250 will take place on September 20! One $200 ticket enters nine monthly drawings plus the grand prize drawing for $10,000, $3,000, and $2,000 at the festival! (That averages to a cost of $20 per drawing.) Thank you for supporting St. Peter School!!

ST. PETER SCHOOL CORNER: Patricia Anderson, Principal

Remember being a kid during the summer, when you woke up to chirping birds and bedtime was whenever you fell asleep? Remember filling a Mason jar with lightning bugs, hoping their lights would last all night? Remember eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on a blanket in the yard and watching the ants? Or how about the lazy afternoons spent imagining animals in the clouds? I believe summertime is a gift from God, a time to purposefully slow down our exhausting pace in life, to relax, rejuvenate, and replenish our souls with the blessings we have been given. As summer winds down and the school year gets closer, I tuck away the memories of slower paced days and long evenings lingering outside. Soon, the alarms will go off before the sun comes up, the children will be arriving at the school doors, and that first bell will ring, signaling the beginning of another school year, another round of learning and discovering, another opportunity to continue growing into the person God intends us to be. Reminders: Preschool Open House is Monday, August 14, A-M at 5:15 pm and N-Z at 6:30 pm. Grades K-6 Open House is Monday, August 21 from 5:30-6:30 pm. Hot dogs will be provided by the SPS Parent Team. Hope to see you there!
