Our new Alpha programme is about to begin in the next few weeks, and we have already received a number of enquiries from people interested. Many thanks to a number of parishioners who have volunteered to help facilitate the programme, and who recently attended a training day in Cork. The course will commence on Wednesday 18 th September at 7pm, at a venue to be confirmed next week. The course is designed to invite people to rethink their faith in Jesus Christ, and to get a conversation going among like-minded people on the importance of faith in our lives today. Each session begins with a shared meal, followed by a short DVD presentation on a particular topic of faith, and concludes with time for discussion in small groups. Places are limited, so book early. You can leave your name on the sign-up sheet in our parish office. Application sheets are also available in the porches. Remember to keep the group in your prayers! All are invited to the Banquet In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses the image of a great banquet to explain God’s vision for our world. He speaks of a place where those who consider themselves entitled to the highest seats at the table take the low seats. He urges us to invite the poor, the lame and the blind to this celebration. Jesus encourages us to turn the world upside down in a reversal, an upheaval, where the preferred option is for the poor and those considered least in society. Today is an important day, as we begin the Season of Creation (from 1 September until the Feast of St Francis on 4 October). Pope Francis asks all Christians to embrace this season in prayer, in living more sustainably and in raising our voices in the public sphere. We are invited to think more deeply about what is happening at present to the Earth, the environmental destruction which now threatens our world, our common home. The theme this year is ‘The Web of Life.’ The most vulnerable among us are suffering most deeply as this web of life begins to unravel. Our faith calls us to respond to this crisis with urgency. Let us hear the Gospel message today, where we are called to consider those on the margins, including those most at risk from climate change, and let us commit to working towards a world where all are seated at the banquet. Alpha – Nearly There!

Our new Alpha programme is about to begin in the next few weeks, and we have already received a number of enquiries from people interested. Many thanks to a number of parishioners who have volunteered to help facilitate the programme, and who recently attended a training day in Cork. The course will commence on Wednesday 18th September at 7pm, at a venue to be confirmed next week.

All are invited to the Banquet

In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses the image of a great banquet to explain God’s vision for

our world. He speaks of a place where those who consider themselves entitled to the

highest seats at the table take the low seats. He urges us to invite the poor, the lame

and the blind to this celebration. Jesus encourages us to turn the world upside down in a

reversal, an upheaval, where the preferred option is for the poor and those considered

least in society.

Today is an important day, as we begin the Season of Creation (from 1 September

until the Feast of St Francis on 4 October). Pope Francis asks all Christians to embrace

this season in prayer, in living more sustainably and in raising our voices in the public

sphere. We are invited to think more deeply about what is happening at present to the

Earth, the environmental destruction which now threatens our world, our common home.

The theme this year is ‘The Web of Life.’ The most vulnerable among us are suffering

most deeply as this web of life begins to unravel. Our faith calls us to respond to this

crisis with urgency. Let us hear the Gospel message today, where we are called to

consider those on the margins, including those most at risk from climate change, and let

us commit to working towards a world where all are seated at the banquet.

Wonderful news! A diocesan family day will be held on Sunday 29th September at Mount Melleray. This is a result of the tremendous success of the day that was held last August in preparation for the

World Meeting of Families.

Diocesan Family Day at Mount

Melleray Abbey

We wish the very best of luck to all the children returning to school in

the next few weeks.

Many of our young people are embarking on a

new phase of life at this time of year. Some

perhaps leave home for the first time. We wish

them well and offer them the following words of

wisdom.

Blessing Of Solitude May you recognize in your life the presence, power and light of your soul May you realize that you are never alone, that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you immediately with the rhythm of the universe. May you have respect for your own individuality and difference. May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here, that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful, good and eternal happening. May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.

Tramore Active Retired

The next meeting of Tramore Active

Retired will take place in the

Community Centre, Pond Road on the

3rd

September at 11.00am.
