Why The Bob Pike Group?“Bob shared ‘real’ tools & techniques that I can immediately use back at my command.”

—Ms. Lynette Ward, Head, Civilian Workforce Development Branch, MCAS Cherry Point

Since 1979, over 300,000 clients have learned and used our Participant-Centered system - adult learning theory made practical and applicable.

Training success has not occurred unless behavior has changed. Participants must “buy-in” to the value of the content and they must be able to retain, adapt, and apply it to their circumstances. Adult learning theory tells us that learner involvement, through relevant, varied interaction, is crucial to obtaining buy-in, retention, and transfer of training.

Participant-Centered Training is facilitated using group interaction over 80% of the time. By using the structure of small groups, interaction, and appropriate levels of lecture, participants are able to make connections to prior knowledge and decisions as to how to apply what they learn back on the job – thereby increasing the likelihood they will choose to change behavior post-training.

“The program was fun & gave me a lot of useful information that I can apply at work and even in my personal life. I will be able to apply what I learned…to our daily operations and create a work environment that helps employees grow and improve.”

—Iris P Robbins-Anor, Resort Operations Officer, USMC-MCCS

[“according to Resnick and Lopfer (1989:5), ‘before knowledge can be used to interpret new

situations, to solve problems, to think and reason, and to learn – students must elaborate and question what they are told,

examine the new information in relation to other information, and build new knowledge structures.”

(Nadkarni, 2003, p.335)]

Business Presentation Skills

“My biggest insight to the Business Presentation Skills course was seeing

the difference in my presentation from the first day to the last day. The new techniques made a big

improvement in my set up focusing on what is important. Also, involving

my audience with interaction techniques will keep them engaged

and motivated!”

—George Williams, Pep Boys
