Application Pack Please read the programme information contained in Part I carefully,

before completing the application form in Part II. Deadline for applications: 30 March 2019

Part I: Overview & EligibilityThe Programme Step-by-step:

"For me it was a 'leadership emersion programme' as it was an opportunity for me to strengthen my business skills,

my mentoring skills, my coaching skills and my teaching and facilitation skills. At the end of the day we would

receive feedback, debrief, review, identify improvement opportunities, adapt, adjust and implement it, all in a

continuous improvement cycle."

Andre Augusto Almedia, Business Mentor

Mentor Development Training CourseWhere: The Hague, Netherlands

When: 26 – 30th August 2019

What: If successful you will join a five day Mentor Development Training Course, where you will

become familiar with the content of the Business Planning Toolkit. You will be supported in

developing the mentoring, facilitation and presentation skills necessary for the delivery of the

training to the protected area participants and for mentoring them for the following twelve

months.

Page 2: Training for World Heritage Site Agencies … · Web viewYou will use skills and knowledge you have gained in the Mentor Development Course to work with up to three participants from

Residential Training ProgrammeWhere: Lajuma Research Centre, South Africa

When: Training 1: 1 – 10 November 2019

Training 2: 12 – 21 November 2019

What: The Residential Training Programme takes place over 10 days. You will use skills and

knowledge you have gained in the Mentor Development Course to work with up to three

participants from a protected area organisation; sharing your knowledge and supporting

them with business insights and training to help them meet their daily business challenges.

An Earthwatch learning expert will support the business skills training with sessions that help

protected area staff to develop the confidence, capabilities and skills required to put what

has been learnt into practise. Earthwatch staff will also offer guidance and support to you

throughout the training.

"On Monday I went back to the office and I have not stopped talking about this whole experience to my

colleagues. They all want to apply next year! Yesterday I was telling a HR person about it, and she told me

that sometimes you can organize all the leadership courses in the world, but it is really these kinds of real

life experiences that have the most impact. And it is true."

Natalia Camprubi, Business Mentor

Mentoring & SupportAfter the Residential Training Programme you will continue to support the protected area staff remotely for

12 months as they develop or revise business plans and start to implement their action plans. The time

commitment may vary considerably and is agreed between the mentor and mentees. However, each

individual should expect to spend a minimum of 2-4 hours per month on their mentoring relationship. You

will also benefit from personal coaching and guidance from Earthwatch learning experts throughout the

mentoring period.

“This program has not only empowered me by improving my capacity as a manager, it has motivated me to

take a proactive approach as a key stakeholder in the development and implementation of a

business plan as well as improved network to share ideas, challenges and solutions”

Eduard, Mentee, South Africa
