The event GOAL is to bring more than 850 of our community’s top business leaders together to honor a wonderful corporate citizen and raise $1,500,000 to support local Scouting programs that develop character, citizenship, leadership, patriotism, self-reliance and personal fitness. Event funds help remove financial barriers for youth to participate in Scouting and allow for outreach programs growth to serve at-risk youth in our most underserved communities.

This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the quality of life in North Carolina and is presented annually to a community leader who exemplifies the values found in the Boy Scout Oath and Law. This is Scouting’s highest local award and will be presented at the 2019 Friends of Scouting Breakfast. Past honorees include Lonnie C. Poole, Jr. (2018), Jim Goodmon (2017), James Maynard (2016) and Van Eure (2015).

OCCONEECHEE COUNCIL is one of the largest and most prominent youth development organizations in North Carolina. We provide young people in Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Lee, Moore, Orange, Vance, Wake and Warren Counties with responsible fun and adventure while instilling in them lifetime values and ethical character development as expressed by the Scout Oath and Law.

Eva Shockey is a world-famous bowhunter, author, TV co-host, social media influencer (2 million followers), and at the forefront of women and girls in outdoor sports. She has a signature collection of home decor at Cabela’s as well as signature products with Bowtech, Tru-fire and Crosman. Voted the 2016 “Most Admired Prominent Outdoorswoman” Eva became the second woman ever on the cover of Field & Stream. She also ranked Top 10 on the 2017 Top TV Personality Chart. Eva lives in the Triangle with her husband an one-year-old daughter.
