he ninth edition of the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair (HJF) witnessed a 20% increase in visitor footfalls compared with previous years, said the show organiser UBM India. Held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel in early June, the show was inaugurated by chief guest Bonthu Ram Mohan, mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Also present at the function were Jiima Nakamano, Consul (Commercial) of Royal ai Consulate General and the director of ai Trade Center; G.V. Sreedhar, chairman, All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation; Mahendra Tayal, president, Hitech City Jewellers Manufacturers Association; and Yogesh Mudras, managing director, UBM India. Mudras said, “HJF received a tremendous response this year from the industry. is kind of positive response has only encouraged and further validated the potential of the industry. e fair, in addition to being the state’s only show of such size and volume, has become an industry benchmark for trade in the region.” e two-day B2B exhibition featured more than 100 jewellery manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, importers, exporters, diamond and gemstone suppliers and representatives from trade and government organisations. Exhibitors presented a wide spectrum of merchandise including diamonds, pearls, gemstones, studded jewellery, South Indian gold jewellery including Victorian, Nizam and antique collections. For the first time, the HJF conducted the Telangana & AP Retail Jewellers Awards 2016 that honoured the best in HJF Registers Uptick In Visitor Growth T the retail jewellery business of the two states. e awardees, chosen from a total of 150 nominations, received a trophy and a certificate for their contribution to the industry.
