Conference SecretariatMecca Concepts Pty Ltd, Melbourne

Welcome from the Conference ChairsThe Queensland Branch and National Executive of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand extend a warm welcome to you to the 34th ALAANZ annual conference ‘Tracking North: Clear Horizons’.

The calibre of the speakers secured for the conference continues to be outstanding and is a reflection of the Association’s founding aim of developing the practice of law affecting the aviation industry and exchanging information about aviation laws. Speakers from CASA, the ATSB and IATA will provide their insights into matters including the major aviation losses of 2014 and 2015. They will be joined by eminent representatives of airlines, airports, academia, insurance and law, to provide comprehensive and engaging sessions on the major developments in aviation law over the past 18 months.

The conference committee is delighted to provide an escape from the winter chills by hosting this year’s conference in Cairns, the unofficial capital of beautiful tropical North Queensland. The venue for this year’s conference is the five-star Shangri La Hotel, located in the heart of Cairn’s marina precinct.

The conference will commence Wednesday evening with a relaxed cocktail function by the hotel pool. A highlight of the programme will of course be the conference dinner, to be held on Thursday evening at the nearby Salt House restaurant. With stunning marina and ocean views this venue will provide a wonderful back drop to a fantastic relaxed evening of entertainment and industry networking.

The conference will culminate in an optional networking event on the Friday afternoon so if you (and your family) are staying on in beautiful North Queensland for a warm winter weekend or simply catching a later flight home, we would love for you to join us on a catered afternoon cruise around the scenic Cairns harbour.

So come August set your bearing north and keep going til the sun is warm on your face and you hear the waves breaking. We look forward to seeing you there for what promises to be yet another fantastic national conference!
