Lower School News On Wednesday 27th June Lower School pupils enjoyed a visit from Lisa Heal, Site PA at GE Capital, Equipment Finance Ltd. Lisa carried the Olympic Torch through Truro on the first day of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, having been successfully nominated by colleagues for her contribution to volunteering, fundraising and work within the local community. Sports Days The Nursery are holding their Sports Day on Friday 6th July. Coffee will be served on the patio at 10.30 and the sports will start at 11.00 am. Lower School Sports are on the same day starting at 2.00 pm with tea at 3.00 pm. House Athletics Finals for the Upper School will take place on Saturday 7th July starting at 9.30 am. Years 3 and 4 should arrive at 8.45 am. Children in Years 3 and 4 can travel on the bus as usual if required. There will be a break for lunch from 12.00 to 12.40 pm and the day will finish with tea at 3.30 pm. Speech Day We look forward to welcoming parents to Speech Day on Saturday 14th July when the guest speaker will be Dr Steven Connors, Headmaster of Monmouth School. Speech Day is the formal event of the year at Tockington Manor. Upper School boys should wear blazer, grey shirt, trousers and tie, Years 7 and 8 girls blazer, kilt, white blouse and tie, junior girls blazer and summer dress. Children in Years 3 and 4 should come in at the normal time. We hope parents will dress appropriately for the occasion. Ladies are welcome to wear hats if they wish. Leavers should wear their OT scarves and ties. Youth Speaks Good luck to Seren Clayton who is taking part in the finals of the Rotary Club Youth Speaks competition on Monday 2nd July. Charities Each academic year the school supports three charities. If any parents have a connection with a charity they feel the school would like to support, please forward details to the office. U9 Tennis Tournament Bennie Sanzo, Jessie Sanzo, Angus Duncan and Ceredig Jones competed in an Under 9 tennis tournament at Westonbirt School this week. They came second out of five schools, losing by only two points to Westonbirt School which is a tennis academy. The children played fantastic tennis and showed impeccable manners and sportsmanship.
