Comics, Cards and Games , a bustling retail store in downtown Lethbridge. Employing four people, he stays busy with a growing storefront as well as a burgeoning online presence. The store hosts daily events as well as large events on weekends, bringing in people from outside Lethbridge for various gaming competitions. The unique concept brought gaming, and gamers, out of back rooms and in to the forefront, offering a bright and fun atmosphere for people of all interests and skill levels. A combination of unique retail and an ever growing in store community have made Kapow stand out in the world of comic, gaming and hobby. Wallie is also a fixture on the convention circuit, participating in shows throughout the province such as the world famous Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, Vul-Con and Spock Days, the Red and White show in Calgary, Edmonton Pop Culture show and many more. After graduating from Brooks Composite High School with an advanced diploma, Wallie attended Grant MacEwan in Edmonton for 2 years in 2000 and 2001. He also worked as an electrician (3rd year) for several years before following his passion and opening Kapow alongside his wife Kallie.

Wallie has accomplished much sincestarting Kapow Ltd. They have won twoconsecutive Best of the Best awardsfor Hobby/Craft store in the LethbridgeSun Times. They have also beenawarded the Chamber of CommerceBusiness of the Year Awards on twoconsecutive years, co-winning BestNew Business in 2013 and The EstelleBotfield Memorial Award for Customer Service Excellence in 2014.

The current chair of the Lethbridge Downtown BRZ, Wallie has been an activemember for the past two years and also works closely with the Heart of theCity as a former board member. As both a business and property owner indowntown Lethbridge, Wallie is a strong advocate for Downtown Lethbridge,participating in as many functions as he can.

Wallie and Kallie are strong supporters of the MS Society, participating in theannual MS Walk. Kapow also hosts their own fundraisers Christmas giftwrapping at Kapow.

Kapow is an ever present member in the community, participating in Love andRecords, Lethbridge Entertainment Expo, Lethbridge Comic Con andsupporting numerous events and charitable functions with prizing, sponsorshipand participation.

The Alberta government provides grant programs toemployers to create jobs

Our government is supporting Alberta businesses help create new jobs bylaunching two grant programs in 2016.

Job Creation Incentive ProgramThis program will encourage hiring by providing grants to employers forcreating net new employment on or after January 1, 2016. Grants will be worthup to $5,000 for each new job, with a cap of 100 new full-time jobs.

Start date: Spring 2016

Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP) This program will subsidize wages paid by employers to encourage summeremployment opportunities for students.

City of Lethbridge: Downtown Parking Meter ReplacementProject presentation and feedback workshop

Please join us for a presentation and feedbackworkshop on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 to learnmore about the Downtown Parking Meter ReplacementProject.

Current parking meters within the downtown areantiquated and often not working. The City can nolonger find replacement parts to ensure the meterswork and customers, visitors and residents are impacted by either not havingthe meter work or worse, receiving a ticket because it wasn't working. We wishto rectify this problem and move the downtown parking into a more modernconvenient system.

The City of Lethbridge has completed the first phase of this project which wasto evaluate the technical options available to explore. Without this activity wewouldn't have known what to ask you as we would not know what options areavailable to offer.

This is where it gets exciting! Phase 2 is all about you. As downtownresidents, businesses, organizations and customers, we need to know yourconcerns and suggestions. Your feedback will help the City understandchallenges and future opportunities that may come from upgrading theobsolete devices. We invite you to attend one of the following workshops:
