This year’s Swimming carnival will be combined not just with Primary and Secondary but also with Southern Highlands Christian School.
Permission notes for the carnival next week will be sent home this week. If you have not received one, please check your child’s bag. Permission slips need to be returned by next Tuesday, 10 February.
All students from Years 3 - 12 are expected to attend, with only strong swimmers from Yr 2 attending.
Buses will operate to transport students from Tongarra to the pool, and begin leaving at 9am. They will also return students to school at the conclusion of the carnival.
Give thanks for the recent summer holidays and the opportunity to spend time together as families and to be
refreshed after a busy year.
Give thanks for the time we shared at our Dedication Service on Monday and that we can begin a new year
by praising our Lord.
Pray for all our new students and their families as they join our school community. Pray that they will feel
welcome members of our school and that they will be blessed during their time here at ICS.
Pray for Dr Bertram and Mr Babbage in their new roles as Campus Principal and Deputy Principal.
Pray for our staff as they commence another year. Give thanks for the blessings of Christian teachers and
pray that there will be many opportunities to help our students in their relationships with God.
Pray for safety and fun at the Primary and Secondary Swimming Carnival next week. Pray that this
combined event will run smoothly and that the students will glorify God with their behaviour.
Absenteeism, Late Arrivals and Early Collection of Children Please make yourself aware of the legal requirements below!
Taken from the 2015 Parent Handbook—page 12 & 13.
General Absences Parents/Guardians are requested to telephone the school office to register their child’s
absence by 9.30am. If you need to call out of school hours, an answering machine will be on. Please leave a message with your child’s name and class as well as a brief
reason for their absence. Please note: a written note explaining your child’s absence still needs to be sent with your child when they return to school. Truancy and excessive
non-attendance will be will be followed up by the school.
Leaving early during the day If a parent needs to collect a child during school hours a signed note must be
addressed to the school seeking approval. If the person collecting your child is not a
parent, authorisation nominating the person who will collect your child should be part of the note requesting early departure. All students leaving school early must be signed
out from the office by a responsible adult. Secondary students will be collected from the Office and K-6 students will be collected from their classrooms after being signed
out .
Late Arrivals Students who arrive after the commencement of classes are required to obtain a late
pass from the office. If the school bus is late and roll call is still in progress, students proceed straight to class. If roll call is finished, students are to proceed to the office to
obtain a late note.
Regarding extended holiday leave If families are planning holidays outside of normal school vacations, parents are to
write to the Principal to seek approval for their plans before the event. This is especially
important for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 where external regulations on assessments apply and assessment schedules must be complied with.
(Legal requirements regarding student absences are put in place for the safety and well-being of all our
students. Please assist the office staff with the above requests. After all - a big part of their job is to
love our kids and make sure they are safe!)
