This is because it is an irrational number going on and on, and never repeating itself. Pi and other irrational numbers remind us of our limited knowledge. Although our understanding fails, God’s understanding is infinite, knowing everything. Psalm 147:5 tells us, “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit”. Hence, the infinite nature of irrational numbers gives us a glimpse of our infinite God. Pi also points to God’s design through creation. Pi is useful for many calculations including, sound waves, general relativity, movements of the heavens and probability. Why can Pi help us describe so many aspects of creation? Because God created them all! Just as we can see aspects of the same artist in different pictures, we can see aspects of God in all of His creation. Sometimes people get excited about Pi, but fail to worship and stand in awe of the God who created Pi, along with the creation which gives it meaning. In Romans 1:20-23, the Bible warns us about this. For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For, although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him. Their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and animals. The challenge for us is to be sure we praise the Creator when we look at His amazing creation, including Pi. A message from Mrs StruthersPi Day

On Monday, Stages 3 and 4 celebrated Pi Day. Pi is an unusual number as it cannot be represented as a fraction.

Hence, the infinite nature of irrational numbers gives us a glimpse of our infinite God.Pi also points to God’s design through creation.
