END OF YEAR OF MERCY

Today ends the liturgical year and the special Year of Mercy. Reflect once again on God’s infinite mercy and compassion:

God of Mercy, help me to believe in new beginnings. Help me to be a beginning inspiration for others,

to be a singer to the songless, a storyteller to the aimless;

To become a beginning of hope for the despairing of assurance for the doubting, of reconciliation for the divided;

To become a beginning of freedom for the oppressed, of comfort for the sorrowing, of friendship for the forgotten;

To become a beginning of beauty for the forlorn, of sweetness for the soured, of wholeness for the broken.

Help me to believe in beginnings, to make a beginning, to be a beginning,

so that I may not just grow old, but grow new each day of this wild, amazing life you call me to live

with Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A NEW JOURNEY

God of Mercy and Compassion, go with me on a new journey towards what can only be measured

in bread shared and needs met; in bodies healed and minds liberated;

in barriers removed and communities formed; in doors flung open and all received; in songs sung and justice done;

in laughter in the night and joy in the morning; in love through the years and gladness of heart;

in gathering at table and the coming of the kingdom; in your name praised and Alleluia sung for ever and ever.

Amen.

The church is built with living stones With Christ as cornerstone. In him we trust who makes us one, Uniting us in love. We build on the rock of faith in Christ.

We gather here to worship God, Our Eucharist to share. We give him thanks and celebrate The myst’ry of his love; The word is made flesh and given for us

Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the holy one, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the most high, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen

MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.

LAMB OF GOD

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Grant us peace.

COMMUNION HYMN

BE MERCIFUL

Be merciful, be merciful, just as God is merciful to you. Answer evil with good, answer hatred with love. Be merciful as God is merciful.

As a tender father, God is merciful; as a loving mother, God is merciful, slow to anger, and full of compassion.

Show compassion to the lost and forgotten; give comfort to the sick and the dying. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Share your riches with the hungry and homeless, and advocate for those in prison. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

And, as Jesus taught us, love your enemies, do good to the ones who hate you. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Offer blessings to the ones who curse you, and pray for the ones who abuse you. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Clothe yourselves in love and compassion; Be forgiving as God has forgiven you. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
