We are now accepting new residence applications from international students for Tohoku

University's University House and International House dormitories.

(A) Application for New Residence

1 Room Availability (As of December 18, 2020)

Due to the relaxation of entry restrictions by the Japanese government, students who

enrolled in October, 2020 are currently coming from abroad and moving in to dormitories.

Therefore room availabilities are subject to change due to the new entrants.

There are many applicants for University House rooms, so it is relatively hard to get in

there. To increase your chances of being assigned university housing, we recommend you

apply for International House.

2 Eligibility

International students enrolled at Tohoku University as of April 2021 are eligible

(undergraduate students, graduate students, research students, non-degree students,

special auditing students, special research students).

*Students entering Japan from abroad can move in to their dormitories after a 2 -week

quarantine at a hotel etc. near their arrival airport and confirmation that they are in good

health.

(1) Students given permission to live in a dorm room until Tuesday, March 15, 2021 can apply for

other dormitories, but please be aware that they will be given low priority for selection. They

should consider moving to an apartment as their first choice.

(2) Students currently living in an apartment who once lived in a university dorm can apply for

dormitory rooms.

However, if they violated the dorm rules or disturbed other residents during their previous

residence, they will not be permitted to live in a dorm again.

(3) Students planning to enter Tohoku University from this April must apply to the dorm

rooms now. If they wait to apply until after the announcement of their test results, they will

miss the application deadline.

(4) Please confirm the following before applying for dormitories.

① UH Aobayama residents have to pay ¥5,900 every month (for mandatory services for all

residents -bedding and housewares rental etc.) besides rent. Please note that residents

cannot refuse any of the services even if they don’t need them.

② Smoking is prohibited everywhere on all Tohoku University campuses. Because university

dormitories are part of the campus, residents cannot smoke in the dorms or on the

premises. If you wish to smoke, please apply for a private apartment.

Especially, because University Houses are shared-type dormitories, smokers cannot

apply.

③ International House Sanjo 1 and Higashi-Sendai are old dormitories and their room

conditions are not good. There may be mold and damage to the walls, furniture, etc.

Please be aware of this when applying for them.

④ We have plans to renovate International House Sanjo 1 ( 1st floor of Building A and

building B).If you are assigned there, please note that renovation work will be performed

during your residence period.

3 Duration of Stay

In general, one of the periods below. You can apply for UH Aobayama for 2 years or

shorter, or other dorms for 1 year or shorter. Residents cannot stay in dorms for longer

than these designated residence periods (excluding UH Nagamachi and IH Higashi-Sendai

residents).

IH Higashi-Sendai residents can stay during their course term. Though it’s far from

campus, they can stay there without moving to an apartment throughout their course

term.

※1 Exchange students are allowed to apply until August 31(Tue.), 2021 or February 28

(Mon.), 2022.

※2 Due to room cleaning, students cannot stay in the dorms until September 30 (or

March 31). I.e. you will not be able to stay in your room until the day of the

commencement ceremony.

※3 Rent for final month of residence

If students leave the dorm before the 15th of February, March, August, or September,

rent and management charges for the relevant month will be half of the regular fee.

However, students whose duration of stay is scheduled to end on September 15 are

not eligible to receive this discount for August even if they leave before August 15. This

discount applies only to the last month written on the resident’s permit.

Please take note of this when entering your residence period if you are a short term

student.

5 How to apply

Please enter your information on the 'Application for Tohoku University's University

House and International House ' (Form 1-1, 1-2) and submit it to the Student Service

Division in your department.

Students can ask their academic advisor at Tohoku University to apply for them.

Application Deadline： Please ask the Student Service Division in your department

6 Announcement of Selection Outcome

Students will be contacted by mid-February via the heads of their departments.

7 Move-in Date

Please attend the registration meeting at your dorm on the day you arrive. After the

meeting, you will receive your room key.

Students can start moving into their dorms on the date below.

March 25, 2021 (Thurs.)

※1 Students can’t move in to their dormitories until they finish a 14- day quarantine.

- Please enter April 1 for your move-in date on your application if you plan to move

in to your dormitory between March 25 and April 10.

- Please enter April 16 for your move-in date on your application if you plan to move

in to your dormitory between April 11 and April 24.

- Please enter May 1 for your move-in date on your application if you plan to move

in to your dormitory between April 25 and April 30.

※2 Students cannot move in on Saturdays and Sundays. If you arrive at Sendai after a

14-day quarantine and wish to move in to your dormitory on weekends, someone in

your lab needs to receive your room key in advance.

8 Residence Permit Cancellation & Eviction

Those who fail to move in within seven days of the start of the move-in period without

providing a reason, allow unauthorized persons to stay overnight in their rooms, violate

University House Management Regulations or International House Regulations, or disobey

instructions issued by the university or the dormitory office, may lose their Residence

Permit or be evicted.

In the past, students who disturbed other residents with disruptive behavior were

reprimanded, and some were evicted. Please keep in mind that all Residence Permit

holders are obliged to comport with community norms and customs, as well as dormitory

rules, to ensure a pleasant living environment for all residents.

9 Notes

(1) Please be sure to confirm that every form is filled out. If any forms are incomplete, it

may be taken into account during selection. If you have not received a student ID

number yet, please enter ‘undecided’. If you cannot input katakana, please leave the

relevant boxes blank.

(2) Research students who are planning to enter graduate school can apply only for a six-

month residence period. Please apply for a residence extension if you plan to enter a

Tohoku University graduate school.

The residence period of UH Aobayama is different from that of the other dorms.

Please enter the residence period for your first choice on your application.

(3) Students who wish to apply for a couple's or family room must attach the documents

listed below.

If family members are in Japan:

・Copy of documents proving relationship with applicant (National Health Insurance

card etc.)

If family members will come to Japan later:

・Copy of documents proving relationship with applicant (marriage license etc.)

・Copy of Certificate of Eligibility for family members coming to Japan or application

receipt issued by Immigration Bureau of Japan proving that they have applied for a

Certificate of Eligibility.

If coming to Japan together with family members:

・Copy of documents proving relationship with applicant (marriage license etc.),

passports of accompanying family members

○Please be aware that if family members join you from abroad, they also can move in to

their dormitories after a 14-day quarantine at a hotel near their arrival airport.

○As a condition of applying, if the applicant is engaged, but not yet married, to the

accompanying person, s/he must be able to submit the above documents by the date

on which they will move in.

○Applicants who cannot provide the above documents when applying should attach a

written explanation to their application, then submit the documents later.

(B) Application for Extension of Residence Period

1 Eligibility 【UH Sanjo, Sanjo Ⅱ, Ⅲ, UH Katahira , IH Sanjo１，２・・・Single room, Family room】 Students given permission to live in a dorm on and after Oct. 1, 2020 to March. 15, 2021.

※Students can apply to extend this by six months (until Sept. 15, 2021).

【UH Aobayama】 ※1 Students given permission to live in a dorm from Oct.１,2019 to March.15, 2021.

*Students can apply to extend this by six month (until Sept. 15, 2021)

※2 Students given permission to live in a dorm from April, 2020 to March.15, 2021.

*Students can apply to extend this by one year (until March 15, 2022)

※3 Students given permission to live in a dorm on and after Oct.1, 2020 to March.15,

2021.

*Students can apply to extend this by 1 and a half years (until Sept.15, 2022). ※If you are a research student who will enter a graduate school from April, 2021, please

be aware that you will need to stay in an apartment for your final half year because

students can live in UH Aobayama for up to two years maximum, even if the duration

of their studies is two and a half years. 【IH Sanjo １，２ Couple’s room, UH Nagamachi, IH Higashi-Sendai】

・If you wish to use Internet in your room, you need to apply to the service provider. At UH Aobayama, Internet connection service is included. Residents can't cancel it.

２．入居資格

２０２１年４月現在、本学に在学する（在学見込みの者を含む）外国人留学生

（学部学生、大学院学生、研究生、科目等履修生、特別聴講学生、特別研究学生）

海外から来日する留学生は、入国後２週間、空港近くのホテル等で待機し、健康観察を

行った上で学生寄宿舎へ入居してください。

（１）現在、学生寄宿舎に入居中であり、入居期間が２０２1年３月１５日（火）で終了する者は、

再度学生寄宿舎への入居申請ができます。

ただし、選考においては新規渡日者を優先しますので、民間アパートへの入居を最優

先としてください。

（２）過去に学生寄宿舎に入居経験があり、現在は民間アパートに入居している者も、再度、

学生寄宿舎への入居申請ができます。

ただし、以前の入居において、ルール違反や他の入居者への迷惑行為があった者に

ついては、入居は不可とします。

（３）４月から本学に入学予定の外国人留学生については、学生寄宿舎への入居申請がで

きます。受験生は、合格発表後に申請しても間に合わないことがありますので、入学を前

提に申請して下さい。

（４）入居申請にあたっては、以下の点に留意の上、申請してください。 ① ＵＨ青葉山は、寄宿料、共益費の他に、寝具や生活用品レンタル等の全入居者対象

サービス料金５，９００円を支払します。

新入生、在学生に係わらず、申請者は、各サービスのキャンセルはできません。

② 本学は「キャンパス内全面禁煙」です。学生寄宿舎もキャンパスです。

各学生寄宿舎敷地内、建物内すべて全面禁煙です。喫煙習慣があり、日常生活で喫

煙を希望する場合は民間アパートに入居してください。

特に、ユニバーシティ・ハウスは共同生活となるため、喫煙習慣のある方は申込みでき

ません。

③ 国際交流会館については、大学で修理修繕を実施しておりますが、特に三条第一会

館及び東仙台会館については、老朽化が著しいため、居室、シャワー、トイレの状態が

良好ではありません。家具や壁に傷みやカビがあります。選考の結果、申請者数等の

理由により同会館へ入居許可された場合は、ご了承願います。

④国際交流会館三条第一会館A棟１階（単身男子室）、B棟（家族室、夫婦室）に入居許

可された方は、入居期間中に居室の修繕工事を行いますので、ご了承ください。なお、

工事期間中の退居の必要はありません。

３．入居期間

入居期間は、原則として以下（１）～（４）のいずれかとなります。

ＵＨ青葉山は最大２年間、その他の学生寄宿舎は最大１年間の入居とします。UH長町、

東仙台会館を除き、それ以上延長して入居することはできません。

なお、東仙台会館については、入居期間は卒業（修了）までとします。通学距離はあります

が、入学から卒業まで他の学生寄宿舎やアパート等に転居することなく、継続して学生生活

を送ることができます。

入居開始日は、「７．入居日等」を参照してください。

（２）2021年4月1日（木）～2022年3月15日（火）

（３）2021年4月1日（木）～2022年9月15日（木）ＵＨ青葉山のみ

※１交換留学生は、２０２１年８月３１日（火）、２０２２年２月２８日（月）までの申請も可能と

します。

※２退居後の居室について、ハウスクリーニングを実施し、次の入居者を迎えますので、

９月３０日又は３月３１日までの入居期間ではありません。卒業（修了）予定の外国人留

学生でも、学位記授与式までの入居はできませんので、ご注意ください。

※３退居月の寄宿料等について

許可された入居期間の最終月２・３・８・９月の１５日までに退居する場合、当該月の

寄宿料及び共益費は半額となります。入居期間が９月１５日までの者が、８月１５日ま

でに退居しても８月分は半額にはなりません。入居許可書に記載された最終月のみ半

額になります。

短期留学の方は、入居期間の入力の際、ご注意ください。

５．入居申請

入居を希望する者は、｢東北大学ユニバーシティ・ハウス及び国際交流会館入居申請書｣

（様式１－１、１－２）に申請データを入力し、所属する部局の留学生担当係にＥメールにて

送付してください。指導教員等による代理申請も可能です。

提出期限は所属する部局の留学生担当係にお問い合わせください。

６．入居許可

選考結果及び入居許可書を２月中旬頃に所属学部・研究科の長を通じ、申請者に通知し

ます。

７．入居日等

入居を許可された者は、入居許可された学生寄宿舎で入居手続きを完了の上、入居開始

してください。入居開始日は、次のとおりです。

入居開始日：２０２１年３月２５日（木）

※１入居申請書の入居開始日について

・日本に入国後、１４日間の健康観察中は学生寄宿舎に入居できません。

・健康観察後の学生寄宿舎への入居予定日が３月２５日から４月１０日の場合は、４

月１日と入力してください。

・健康観察後の学生寄宿舎への入居予定日が４月１１日から４月２４日の場合は、４

月１６日と入力してください。

・健康観察後の学生寄宿舎への入居予定日が４月２５日から４月３０日の場合は、５

月１日と入力してください。

※２土日祝日の休日に入居手続きをすることはできません。日本に到着後１４日間の健康

観察が終了し、仙台に移動する日が休日となる場合は、直近の平日までに研究室の

職員等が代理で鍵を受け取ることで入居ができます。

入居に関する手続きは、直近の平日に各学生寄宿舎管理室で行います。

８．入居許可の取消し・退居命令

許可された入居期間の開始日から７日以内に理由なく入居しない場合及び入居許可者

以外の者を宿泊させた場合等、「東北大学ユニバーシティ・ハウス管理運営規程」、「東北大

学国際交流会館管理運営規程」及び「大学又は管理室から指示された事項」に従わない、又

は違反した者は、入居許可の取消し、又は退居を命ずることがあります。

過去に、騒音行為等により他の入居者への迷惑行為を行い、厳重注意処分、又は退居処

分を受けた留学生がおりました。入居許可者は、日本の文化や習慣、入居ルールを順守す

る義務があり、入居者全員が快適に生活できるように協力することが求められます。

９．その他留意事項

（１）記入漏れ等により選考上不利になる場合がありますので、申請書すべての記入欄に記

入漏れがないことを確認してください。（学籍番号が未定の場合は、「未定」と記入してくだ

さい。フリガナが記入できない場合は、空欄にしてください。）

（２）進学予定のある研究生の方については、研究生の在学期間で申請してください。

改めて、進学時に入居期間の延長申請を行ってください。

ＵＨ青葉山とそれ以外のＵＨ・国際交流会館では入居期間が異なります。入居期間は、

第一希望の学生寄宿舎に入居する場合の希望期間をご記入ください。

（３）夫婦室・家族室への入居希望者については、下記の書類を添付してください。

① 家族が日本にいる場合

・申請者との続柄が証明できる書類の写し（国民健康保険証など）

② 家族を日本に呼び寄せる場合

・申請者との続柄が証明できる書類の写し（結婚証明書など）

・呼び寄せる家族の在留資格認定証明書、又は証明書の交付を申請した際に入国管

理局より発行される申請受理票の写し

③ 家族を伴って来日する場合

・申請者との続柄が証明できる書類の写し（結婚証明書など）、日本で同居する家族

のパスポートの写し

※１海外在住の家族を日本に呼び寄せる場合、家族の方も日本に入国後２週間は学

生寄宿舎に入居できません。ホテル等に滞在し、２週間健康観察を行ってから学

生寄宿舎に移動してください。

※２結婚予定の方は、入居日までに上記の書類が提出できることが申請条件となり

ます。

※３申請時に上記の書類が提出できない方は、申請書に理由書を添付し、後日提出

して下さい。

(Ｂ)外国人留学生入居者の入居期間延長

１．期間延長申請資格

（１）ＵＨ三条・三条Ⅱ・三条Ⅲ・片平、三条第一会館・三条第二会館単身室、家族室 ①２０２０年１０月１日以降２０２１年３月１５日まで許可されている者＊延長できる期間は、半年間（２０２１年９月１５日まで）となります。（２）ＵＨ青葉山

①２０１９年１０月１日～２０２１年３月１５日まで許可されている者＊延長できる期間は、半年間（２０２１年９月１５日まで）となります。

②２０２０年４月１日～２０２１年３月１５日まで許可されている者＊延長できる期間は１年間（２０２２年３月１５日まで）となります。

③２０２０年１０月１日以降２０２１年３月１５日まで許可されている者＊延長できる期間は１年半（２０２２年９月１５日まで）となります。

※１研究生として入学し、大学院に進学する方は、在学期間が２年半となりますが、

ＵＨ青葉山の入居期間は２年間となりますので、最後の６か月は民間アパートに入居していただくこととなります。ご了承の上、延長をお申込みください。

（３）ＵＨ長町、東仙台会館、三条第一会館・三条第二会館夫婦室

①２０２１年３月１５日まで入居を許可されている者

＊延長できる期間は、１年間（２０２２年３月１５日まで）となります。 ※１三条第一会館Ｂ棟は、入居中に改修工事の予定があります。 ※２夫婦室への新規申請が増加しております。選考においては新規で入居する者が優

先されるため、延長申請をしても、許可されないことがありますので、ご了承ください。 ※３居室の不足により、家族室の延長申請はできません。２０２０年１０月１日以降

２０２１年３月１５日まで入居許可されている者に限り、半年間の延長申請ができます。
