Where you find your worth!

Modern 3D colour ultrasounds and videos of a child’s development in the womb show us the incredible formation of ears and eyes after 3 weeks, the heart visibly beating at 22 days, the formation of fingers and toes after 6 weeks. At 11 weeks baby can wiggle their fingers and toes and smile and frown and suck their thumb! Thousands of years ago, God revealed to King David of Israel just how intricate and valuable human life is. David was regularly in danger, threatened, pursued and under attack. But in Psalm 139 he writes that God is with him always, and has always had David’s life in his care, even appointing all the days for David to live before he was born. God knows when David sits down and when he gets up again. He knows all of David’s thoughts. Every morning when David ‘goes out’ and every evening when he lies down, God is with him. God is familiar with all of David’s ways and even knows what he will speak before a word is on his tongue. God surrounds David with his presence, and knit him together in his mother’s womb. Before King David knew God, God knew him. This is just too incredible for mere humans to comprehend! God is the author of your life too. You are a complex and intricate individual carefully and intentionally made by him. He has appointed all the days of your life before you were born and has always cared for you. Before you knew God, God knew you. Even if it seems that sometimes God doesn’t understand or care what you are going through, the God who never sleeps is with you through the night and when you awake. Nothing you experience is unknown to him. He knows all your thoughts, he is familiar with all your ways and even knows what you will speak before a word is on your tongue. That should be a truly comforting thing for us to know. It can also be a fearful thing, when I realize God knows my secret thoughts, the unloving words before they are even on my tongue, my sins between when I go out and when I lie down. But even then God still loves us. He loves you so much that he sent his Son Jesus into the world―true God from all eternity to be born as a real human being. Miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit, the Son of God became human with that first cell division, then another and another. God was with Jesus in his mother Mary’s womb, knitting him together in that secret place.

All the days on this earth were ordained for Jesus in his human life before one of them came to be. He was given the names ‘Immanuel’ which means ‘God with us’ and ‘Jesus’ which means ‘God saves’. He has saved you by taking your frail and sinful human flesh upon Himself. The hands that knitted you together in your mother’s womb were stretched out on a Cross and pierced with nails, shedding his blood that is the cleansing flood of forgiveness. Psalm 139 shows us that human value, worth and dignity does not depend upon what you are able to do, or what you look like, or the salary you earn. It is not dependent on how many ‘likes’ you get on Facebook, the kind of car you drive, or how many flat-screens you possess. Human value and worth and dignity depends solely on what God says about you, and because of Jesus you can be sure he loves you. Pastor Tim

CHALK & Parent Direct Fundraising

In Term 3 each year the School receives fundraising catalogues from companies that we purchase supplies from. The catalogues have been sent home this week and contain various different learning and fun toys that are a great idea for Christmas or Birthday presents. Parents have the opportunity to purchase the products by filling out the order form and returning it to the School. If you have any questions or require extra catalogues for family or friends, please see Miss Keller. Twenty cents of every dollar you spend will be donated back to our School to spend on educational resources.

Magazine Sponsors

This year we are seeking sponsors for our School Magazine which will be published and given out to families at the end of the year. We are trying to reduce the cost of the magazines, and if you or a business would be interested in sponsoring the magazine please let us know. The magazine will include a sponsors page which can be used to promote your business. For further information and examples of layouts please contact the front office on 5391 2144 or email [email protected]. This opportunity is open for all businesses.
