A day at the Mansion with Gov Vi
We went to “Ala Eh Country”for the auditions of Miss TeenEarth/Little Miss Earth. Beingthe ever-gracious host, Ate Vihad her staff prepare a sumptu-ous breakfast for us.
As soon as she arrived, it was nonstop chikahan. It wasthe first time for the CD produc-tion staff to have a close en-counter with the Star for AllSeasons. Doubtless, they werestar-struck, but Ate Vi had suchan endearing way of makinganyone feel at home.
Kudos to Ate Vi for addinganother feather to her cap. She
was given an Award of Merit(Special Mention) at the IndieFest Film Awards in Californiafor “Ekstra.”
Her acting prowess is defi-nitely Hollywood-worthy. “Imiss acting,” she said. “When I
watch my colleagues in tele-seryes, I feel envious. I tell my-self, I can do that!”
Ate Vi is raring to shoot her
movie with Angel Locsin. “An-gel will portray a caregiver andI will be a cranky patient,” shesaid. “It has the feel of ‘TheDevil Wears Prada.’ Our con-frontation scenes are intense.”
Since Angel is Ate Vi’s possi-ble daughter-in-law-to-be, theirscreen jousting would be quiteengaging to watch.
Asked about raging nationalissues, Ate Vi said, “It’s all aboutteam effort. We must all do ourpart, no matter how small. Let’sstop playing the blame game!”
It has been 18 years sinceshe joined government and Ate
Vi is still hands-on in herprovince. “It’s not easy being alady leader in Barako Land,”she admitted. “The trust thatthe Batangueños have given meis the best reward. When pushcomes to shove, I can be barako(macho), too.”
Due to her frenzied schedule, she hardly has time to party. “I
was so thrilled to have a night
out in Valkyrie with (husband)Ralph (Recto) and my family,”she recalled. “I miss wearingglamorous outfits. I am alwaysdressed like a governor.”
With that trademark genuine warmth (which enveloped ustill the ride back home), Ate Viserved us kapeng barako andsinaing na tulingan.
Thank you, Ate Vi, for neverrunning out of ways to nurtureour friendship. Never enoughtime with you, but always morethan enough love.
Lucky starLuis Manzano is the sum of
the best parts of his dad, EduManzano, and mom, VilmaSantos. He got Ate Vi’s charismaand Doods’ gift of gab. As hostof the fifth season of “Deal orNo Deal” (weekdays, 5 p.m.
ABS-CBN), Luis is in his ele-ment. Beyond being “Lucky.” histalent has made him step out of the shadow of his famous par-ents—and step up.
Here’s my tête-à-tête
withLuis:
What is the stage of yourrelationship with Angel Loc-sin?
Stage of renewed love, withthe vision of settling down
within arm’s reach. How has your relationship
with Angel improved the sec-ond time around?
We brought a whole new[group of] “people” to the table.
Would you want your momto run for President?
Wherever her heart leadsher, I will be behind her.
What makes the new sea-son of “Deal or No Deal” moreexciting?
The interaction with thelucky stars. I can’t wait for theregular players to join, too.
What’s your deal with An-gel?
Forever.
What’s your deal with yourparents?
To be a good son. Hahaha!Deal!
Belo in TimeBelo Medical Group (BMG)
has once again gained globalrecognition for its achievementsin cosmetic surgery and aesthet-ic dermatology. Time magazinefeatured the clinic in the sameissue as the 2014 Person of the
Year: The Ebola Fighters.
The article named the Philip-
pines as “the rising star of beau-ty tourism,” a $3-billion indus-try.
The report noted that BMG“received the Platinum awardfrom Allergen for being thePhilippines’ top performingBotox treatment clinic for 10consecutive years.
“My dream is to make thePhilippines a world-renownedbeauty destination,” says Dr.
Vicki Belo.Indeed, the world is taking
notice, putting the country onthe map through Belo’s services.
Super festThe theme of this year’s Su-
per8 Grocery Warehouse funfest is “Buhay Bida, Buhay Pe-likula,” an homage to Philippineshow biz.
I think the bida part is per-fect since Super8 goes out of its
way to treat customers like VIPs.
I heard that quite a numberof stars will make special ap-pearances during the company’sbig event, from March 26 to 28,at World Trade Center in Pasay.
Super-exciting!Personal
Thanks to Ate Vi’s ever-de-pendable girl Friday Weng,Maricel Desiatco and PJKhodiel for their kind assis-
tance.
