Augusta, GA 30906 Return Service Requested Hillcrest Baptist Church exists to glorify God by being and producing spiritually mature disciples of Jesus Christ. A Word from Our Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters of Hillcrest, I am HILLCREST! This thought came to my mind this week as I was thinking and considering our church. We often think that church is a place where we go. Its that brick building on the side of Deans Bridge Road. Its the place where we were dedicated to the Lord as babies. Its the place that we attended VBS. Its the place where we were baptized. Its where we were married. Its where we held the funeral to say goodbye to Mom or Dad. When we think about Hillcrest Baptist Church, we are tempted to think about a place built with brick and mortar, but the reality is that Hillcrest Baptist Church isnt the place where we go. Hillcrest is the people who gather in the place. I am Hillcrest. You are Hillcrest. We are Hillcrest! Gods church is His people, who are in need of redemption and transformation themselves, being used by God as instruments of redemption and transformation in others. The church is Gods eternal family gathered in an earthly context to receive and to reveal lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. We are called, redeemed, and placed within our local church body to be a vibrant and vital part of the body of Christ. In 1 Timothy 3:15, Paul calls the believers in Christ, who gathered together for worship, the household of God, the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. Each of us have been changed, transformed, and filled with the Holy Spirit to worship, serve, and extend Gods kingdom. As I think about the statement, I am Hillcrest!, I also begin to think about who needs to be a part of Hillcrest. Who do I know that needs to know Jesus? Who needs to be a part of the family of faith? Who needs to be part of a redeemed community worshipping the living God? I am Hillcrest. You are Hillcrest. We are Hillcrest, and we have a mission to share with our community and city the powerful gospel of Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Let us come and celebrate. Then go and tell.
