fantastic way to close the 2019 series. Even more passionate during this conversation was the acknowledgment

that music creates culture; it shifts the atmosphere and creates space for people to gather in a shared sense of

community. I am so grateful to the visionaries that understand the impact.

Thank-you, Commissioner George Hartwick, for your commitment to Cultural Fest! An old school party in the

street. The rest is history! Year after year, August becomes a time of high anticipation! This year 2019, the iconic

Shelia E. came to The Dauphin County Cultural Fest, and the Urban Connection told the story! We are The Good

News!

Say Hershey, Pennsylvania, and you have immediate brand recognition! Thank-you, Commissioner Pries, for

lending your voice to the first tour national recruiters had of Dauphin County. While they live and work in

Central Pennsylvania, they had never seen Dauphin from the perspective of the Urban Connection.

Melanie Harrington asked the question three times on three separate visits, “Do you look like a welcoming

community from a distance?” Congratulations to the Dauphin County Jazz Festival, nineteen states plus the

District of Columbia came to Fort Hunter to hear performances from national and internationally renowned

performers like Pieces Of A Dream! Someone is always

watching! However, people simply want to know you care.

Ask the people from Cincinnati?This is bigger than music

festivals! It is Economic Inclusion!

At the core of The Urban Connection is a commitment to a

multicultural, multi-ethnic, geographically diverse community

of talented individuals. We know the quality of life is a critical

factor in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and

talent pool! While I have focused on Dauphin County music

festivals, make no mistake, we are a transportation hub with

easy access to other Central Pennsylvania cities and larger

metropolitan markets. What seems like music festivals is now a strategic initiative! The question is can we do

for employment what we do for tourism?

CEO Intern Fellows Programfor Diverse Groups

WHAT IS THE CEO INTERN FELLOWS PROGRAM?The Chief Executive Officer’s (CEO) Intern Fellows Program for Diverse Groups is designed to attract and retain college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates from underrepresented groups to careers in transportation through intern fellowships in the areas of engineering, administration, accounting, construction, information technology and maintenance with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC).

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM OBJECTIVE?To address the future workforce needs of the transportation field, specifically in the STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and math) along with other essential functions such as administration, public information and finance support.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM LAST?This is a full fellowship program that includes wrap-around development to ensure professional success. The students would have an option of working 30–40 hours throughout the summer. The rate of pay for all interns is $15 per hour.

All aboard! Victor Wainwright and the Train are coming to Reading Blues Fest

Composer, producer, vocalist and piano player Victor Wainwright is a raucous, high-octane, dynamic performer and crowd pleaser with soul to spare, fittingly dubbed the “Piana from Savannah.”Wainwright won’t be in Savannah on Saturday, Nov. 23. But he will be in Reading for an 8 p.m. concert with his band The Train at 8 p.m. at the DoubleTree Grand Ballroom.

Playing the nightcap of that Reading Blues Fest double-header at 9:45 p.m. will be Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers featuring The Berks Horns.

Wainwright and his band didn’t get real fancy with the title of their debut album, calling it simply Victor Wainwright and The Train. But

it is the most fitting of metaphors. In music folklore, the train has associations with the freight-hopping bluesmen of yore.

But with a restless boogie-woogie innovator like Wainwright stoking the furnace, the album is a charging locomotive, surging forward, crashing through boundaries of genre, sweeping up fresh sounds and clattering headlong past the doubters.

As Wainwright hollers in the ivory-pounding title track, “If you wanna boogie get aboard this train. Get yourself a ticket or get out of the way.”

The album received a 2019 Grammy Awards Best Contemporary Blues Album nomination.The Train features drummer Billy Dean, bassist Terrence “Sweet Tea” Grayson and guitarist Pat Harrington. Wainwright won the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player Award at the 2018 Blues Music Awards.Though his career began over a decade ago with genuine rock n’ roll honky-tonk, Wainwright has broadened his artistic scope over the years to include music representing virtually every corner of the blues.

His insatiable interest in music discovery, sheer love for entertaining and curiosity have led him all around the world, and the resulting perspective is a reflection of his passion for entertaining and creating progressive roots music in an effort to move the art-form forward.

Says Blues Revue Magazine, “Victor Wainwright is a world champion piano player, two times over! Not only is Victor one of the greatest blues piano players in the business, he’s also a world-class entertainer and vocalist.”

HARRISBURG CHURCH TO MOVE TO NEW LOCATION IN THE BOROUGH OF

PENBROOK

Tabernacle Baptist Church, currently located on the corner of Capital and Herr Streets in midtown Harrisburg, is moving to a new location. This move to the former Zion Lutheran Church in the Borough of Penbrook provides a larger space for Tabernacle’s growing membership, and has a much desired ground level sanctuary and elevator.The Reverend Dr. Arthur L. Brown and his congregation have agreed that it

is time for a new chapter in the life of Tabernacle Baptist Church. This new chapter begins on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 2730 Booser Street in the Penbrook area of Harrisburg. On that day at 9:45 am, Pastor Brown, church members and invited local officials will hold a “Grand March and Building Dedication.” Participants will assemble in the parking lot of nearby Penbrook Church of God, 2733 Canby Street, and march to their new home. Upon arrival, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held. The Mayor of Penbrook, John McDonald, will speak and Dauphin County Commissioner Jeff Haste will also present a proclamation.

Tabernacle Baptist Church has served as a beacon to the community for over 52 years, with successful outreach programs including a food bank, school backpack giveaway, and community health fair. Their current building has been home since 1967, but its second floor sanctuary and small classrooms as well as limited space have long been challenging for accessibility and growth. The new building will facilitate greater community outreach. The congregation is currently seeking potential tenants to lease its midtown building beginning in January 2020. On Sunday, November 17, 2019, Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold its first worship service in their new home at 10:45AM.

5 Quick And EASY Techniques To Help You Realize And Fulfil Your TRUE Goals In Life

Did you know that ‘Goal Setting’ is the secret to

fulfilling ANY dream or desire you want in life?

Did you also know that SUPER Successful people use

‘Goals’ to attain the knowledge and wealth they have

today? Some of you reading this right now might agree

and some of you might not.

That decision is yours to make. The reason people find

it too hard to achieve their goals is simple because

they’ve set their Long-Term goals before setting Short-

Term ones, or they just didn’t plan their goals out carefully. Goal setting strategies are VERY important, especially for

those who want to achieve Long-Term goals. Well, you’re in luck because I’m going to share five ‘Goal Setting’ techniques

to help you realise your TRUE goals today. Your only requirement is to keep an open mind. So, with that said, let’s go to

Technique #1.

Technique #1. Start with Short-Term goals. Sometimes, people start with short-term goals unconsciously. Why

unconsciously? Some of them may have considered the goals to be long-term at the time they planned them; and after

achieving a goal, they realise that they are in fact, looking forward to a longer one.Some are contented with their short-

term goals, but after a while will realise that they also need to attain long-term ones. Short-term goals seem to be our

starting point for our Long Term ones. They also motivate the person to plan for longer goals, which will usually take some

time before achieving them in full.

Technique #2. Make sure you really want the goal. By this, you have to ask yourself: “Do I really want this goal and will

this goal give me a better life?”Answering this ONE question will give you more passion and motivation to achieve your

goal. Some people often recall their past to find out Why and How they came up with such goal.

Technique #3. Speak up. What I mean by this is you shouldn’t keep your goals to yourself only. By sharing your goals with

other people it’ll help you get the support you may need in order to fulfil them. The problem that usually occurs though is

some people are just too shy to tell others about their goals for reasons like they are afraid they cannot achieve them in

the end, or they lack the courage to speak their minds. This is not a good habit to get into because when the time comes

that you really need their support, you will have a difficult time getting it. You’ll then be left to achieve your goals all by

yourself. Don’t make this mistake.

Technique #4. Write down your goals. This strategy is critical and more advisable for those who have a long list of goals.

After writing them down in as much detail, it is advisable that you review them on a daily to weekly basis because this will

encourage and motivate you to achieving them, plus, this will also keep that vision of your goal alive.

Technique #5. Stay on track and never give up.Reviewing notes will help open your mind to see if you are on the right

track. While on track, you may have to face challenges that might change your personality.A person who is overconfident

might suddenly feel depressed after finding out that he is going the wrong way in achieving his goal.Thus this might lead

to abandoning the goal. Never be discouraged. Facing obstacles is a test on how passionate one is to realising his or her

goals.There you have it.Give those a try and keep a visual picture in your mind everyday of you fulfilling that goal you desire so much.

Female African Acapella Group, Nobuntu, to Perform at Penn

State HarrisburgNobuntu, a female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, will perform at Penn State Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, in the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre (SEC Building).

The award-winning five-member group brings us the exhilarating sound of traditional and contemporary African music, ranging from folk tunes to Afro Jazz to Gospel. Group members include Duduzile Sibanda, Zanele Manhenga, Heather Dube, Thandeka Moyo and Joyline Sibanda. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano) and organic, authentic dance movements.

Following the concert, audience members may join the women of Nobuntu for a post-show meet and greet reception featuring coffees and sweets. The reception is supported by the Penn State Harrisburg Diversity and Educational Equity Committee.

If you don’t exercise or if you live a sedentary lifestyle, you are nearly twice as likely to

get heart disease as those who make physical fitness a part of their daily routines.

While it’s recommended that you get at least 30 minutes of exercise, five days a week, doing as little as 10 minutes can lower your risk for heart disease. And these 10-minute segments add up. Take the stairs or a walk for 10 minutes during lunch. Go for a bike ride after dinner or march in place during TV commercial breaks. The benefits of moving more are numerous and include:

Exercise for BeginnersIf you are already exercising on a regular basis, you are on the right track. If you are a beginner, the key is to start slowly. And be sure to get the approval and guidance of your primary care provider or cardiologist. Although walking is universal, exercise is not a “one-size-fits-all” prescription.

Consider adding the following into your daily routine:

Cardio or aerobic exercise: Aerobic exercise strengthens the heart and lungs, while improving your body’s ability to use oxygen. Aerobic activity uses large muscle groups, gets your blood pumping, and increases your heart rate.

Strength training: This form of exercise isn’t just for body builders. Using weights or your own body resistance helps not only to build muscle, a stronger heart, and core (abdominal) strength, it also strengthens your bones.

Stretching: Gentle stretching before and after exercising is necessary for both function and appearance. Stretching lengthens your muscles, helps your balance and posture, and improves flexibility.
