STRATEGIC VISION PLAN 2014 – 2018 | YMCA OF CENTRAL FLORIDA | 1

TO EMPOWER OUR COMMUNITY

FOR GOOD

YMCA OF CENTRAL FLORIDA | STRATEGIC VISION PLAN 2014 – 2018

2 | YMCA OF CENTRAL FLORIDA | STRATEGIC VISION PLAN 2014 – 2018

While our commitment to the community remains steadfast, our organization is continuously evolving and innovating. We make it a point to regularly re-examine our vision and reflect on our mission. Only then can we revitalize our actions to better serve our community.

After our 1994 strategic planning process, we re-focused on strengthening whole families and underserved neighborhoods to make healthy living a priority through membership. As a result, we tripled our impact, touching more lives and more communities.

In 2002, we redirected our decision-making to ensure that we effectively engage, connect, impact and invest in the people we serve. As a result, from 2002 to 2013, we greatly increased the number of residents we served and spawned new life-changing programs.

And now in 2014, after taking yet another close look at our strengths and the needs of our community, we’ve developed a strategic plan to guide the Y of Central Florida through 2020. A plan that will impact the lives of 600,000 residents. A plan that will truly change the game and transform Central Florida for the better.

It makes us proud to look back at all we’ve accomplished together. But it makes us even prouder to look forward. It’s time now to build on the foundation of our past achievements, and create a Y that will have an even more profound impact on our community as it grows.

It is with the generosity of Dr. Phillips Charities that enables us to fulfill our promise to be the foundation of our communities. Dr. Phillips Charities provides philanthropy power behind all we do in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. With their capital support to the launch of our SafeStart program to annual funding which gives us the leeway to tackle pressing social needs year after year.

Our Strategic Vision Plan is measurable, focused, and results-driven. It serves as the foundation for our action moving forward, and will enable us to clearly evaluate the impact of our initiatives.

THE PROCESSWhen you’re striving to better serve your community, you have to start by asking your community what it needs. We conducted a strategic planning session with more than 100 community leaders. By sharing their vision and insights, these leaders helped shape the strategy that will propel the Y toward the future.

Led by an expert facilitator, our staff, volunteers and community leaders engaged in a lively conversation about the Y, touching on its remarkable past as well as its potential future. As we spoke, the facilitator/artist brought the conversation to life through a series of vibrant drawings. As we gaze upon these dynamic illustrations, it makes us proud to look back at all we’ve accomplished together. And it makes us even prouder to look forward.
