Juneteenth Freedom Poster To celebrate Juneteenth, make a colorful sign to honor the culture, lives, and freedom of Black Americans! Juneteenth is the naonal holiday marking the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally told about the abolion of slavery at least 2 and a half years aſter the Emancipaon Proclamaon. 1. Decide what your Juneteenth message will be! You could write BLACK LIVES MATTER, FREEDOM FOR ALL, a statement about what freedom means to you, or even draw symbols. 2. Cover your cardboard sign base with one paint color, if desired. Allow the paint to dry. 3. Draw horizontal pencil lines for your words or symbols on the sign base to make sure you leave enough room for your message. 4. Sketch your message in pencil. 5. Go over your sketches with markers or paint. 6. Speak up and speak out! Place your sign in your window facing your neighbors or carry it with you to a Juneteenth event.
