Your Worship Mayor Burgess; Brandon City Councillors:

While we were immensely pleased with council's unanimous decision to strike acommittee to investigate the feasibility ofcreating a general museum for Brandon, wewould ask that the structure ofthe committee be amended to include a seat for arepresentative from Brandon Museums. Inc., the organization that operates Daly HouseMuseum.

As a non-profit heritage organization we have been in existence for more than thirtyyears, and for much ofthat time have been the only group involved in the collection andpreservation ofmaterials important to the history ofBrandon. We believe we can bringvaluable expertise and insight to the committee in its work.

Further, as many ofthe more important surviving artefacts and documents fromBrandon's past are part ofthe collection owned by Brandon Museums. Inc., a processinvolving our organization from the start would engender a closer working relationshipshould we later be asked to contribute to a general museum.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from youregarding this addition.

COMlVlENTS OR QUESTIONS: I believe t11at the General Museum Proposal is timely. The

history and prehistory of the region, together with a component ofllie environmental history of

the region could. serve as a useful means for public education. It would also supplement the

tourist interest of the city and region.
