Driving instruction Distance from the center of Belgrade to the Veliko Gradište and Silver Lake is 115 kilometers. This
distance is the easiest and fastest crossing highway Belgrade-Niš. To 63 kilometers from Belgrade to the
highway turns right towards Požarevac.
After about fifteen kilometers away, before entering the center Požarevac, turn right on the ring road
around the city of Veliko Gradište road sign, Kostolac. Detour to drive ten miles, crossing the bridge over
the river Mlava and continues to the village Bratinac. At the crossroads of a panel Veliko Gradište 28
kilometers. Next 6 kilometers route through Stig. The following villages Sirakovo, Majlovac, Đurakovac-
Popovac, Topolovnik and Kumane.
Since leaving the Kumana to table Veliko Gradište, drives another 4 miles. Only 300 meters after the road
sign Veliko Gradište, is the road sign telling you to turn left to Silver Lake.
Silver Lake Tourist Information The Silver Lake (Srebrno Jezero) is one of the best-known holiday resorts in Serbia. It has sandy beaches,
hotels and a lakeside campsite. The lake is actually an arm of the Danube, some 2 km from Veliko
Gradište. With Belgrade nearby (129 km) and other Serbian towns too, it has become a magnet for
tourists and anglers. It is 14 km long, with an average width of 300 m and is up to 3 m deep.
It is rich in a variety of fresh-water fish such as catfish, perch, common carp, grass carp and silver carp.
There are also great opportunities for water sports. In late afternoon, when the sun begins to settle down
to rest behind the Carpathians, the water glistens and sparkles, creating a silver reflection, hence the name
Srebrno (‘Silver’).
Powerful pumps ensure that the water level in the lake is always lower than that of the Danube and
therefore that there is always fresh water flowing in. During its passage underground the water filters
through numerous sand dunes which leave the water flawlessly pure and clear. The cool of the acacia
woods and the favourable climate make a visit to the lake an unforgettable experience.
